Most people I know tend to reach for a hair dye the minute they see a gray hair pop out. It seems like something shameful to have gray hair, and in most cases, it is seen as a sign of aging. Earlier, many people who had prematurely gray hair spent years dyeing their hair so that they won't be bullied or be called names. But, times are changing, and as a sign, more and more women are actually embracing their natural hair- grays and all. One woman found a really beautiful solution to her graying hair when she walked into Jack Martin's salon in California.

The woman had been dyeing her hair from gray to brown with an at-home box color every 3-4 weeks for years but didn't want to worry about it that often. The two of them had a discussion and then decided to dye her hair silver, as it would add a polished look to her natural gray hair. This way, she could flaunt her hair and she wouldn't even have to visit the salon for touch-ups that often. The woman was happy with the way her hair turned out and Martin posted the results on his Instagram. This prompted a lot of women to send in requests to Martin to do the same with their hair as well.

"My clients with naturally gray hair come two or three times a year, instead of every few weeks," Martin told Allure. "Some clients have salt and pepper mostly in the front and the back is darker, so I match that and add some darkness to it," Martin said. He added that the transformation takes up to 10 hours. He asks clients to come in with around 3-4 inches of their natural hair so that he can match the dye to their natural color. He then re-creates that pattern for the full head of hair. "Some clients have salt and pepper mostly in the front, and the back is darker, so I match that and add some darkness to it," he explains. Also, remember Jane Fonda's look at the 2020 Oscars? Well, Jack Martin did her hair!
