Amanda Michelle Naylor Mclure, 32, pleaded guilty of second-degree murder for killing her partner John Thomas McGuire on the Valentine's Day of 2019.
A woman who helped kill her boyfriend and married her father in West Virginia last year has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for murder. Amanda Michelle Naylor Mclure, 32, pleaded guilty of second-degree murder for killing her partner John Thomas McGuire on the Valentine's Day of 2019, before marrying her father, a sex offender, reports WHIO. McGuire, 38, of Owatonna, Minnesota, was found buried in a shallow grave at a home in Skygusty, West Virginia on September 24, where McClure’s biological father, Larry Paul McClure Sr., lived before moving to Kentucky. The father was sentenced to life in prison without mercy in August while the woman's sister Anna Marie Choudhary, 33, of Boone, North Carolina is still facing murder and conspiracy charges.

As per Bluefield Daily Telegraph, McClure was sentenced on Thursday through a skype conference call during which she apologized to McGuire's mother, Karen Smith, who had joined the call from her home in Opelika, Alabama. "I have to look at myself every day," she reportedly said. "My family didn’t raise me to be this way. I’ve not only hurt John’s family, I’ve hurt my own family." Allen and Gwen Holm, McClure’s adoptive parents, also apologized to Smith. "I want to apologize on our behalf,” Mr. Holm said during the hearing. “I can’t imagine what she (Smith) is going through." The couple asked for mercy for their daughter saying she was under her biological father's spell when she committed the crime. "The influence Larry had on her was a huge impact," Holm told the judge.

Judge Ed Kornish, who presided over the case, was not convinced by the plea and proceeded to give McClure the maximum sentence for her crime. The Daily Telegraph reported instances of the incestuous relationship between the father and daughter, who were said to be estranged prior to the crime the details of which became public in the preliminary hearing of Choudhary. Just days before the murder happened, Larry McClure and Choudhary reportedly drove to Indiana to pick up McClure and McGuire before heading to the 56-year-old's rural home in Skygusty. As per reports, the visit was quite pleasant for about a week before the father and daughters began plotting to kill McGuire.

The judge said the trio gained McGuire's trust by stating that they were playing a "trust game" before bludgeoning him in the head with a bottle of wine he'd bought to enjoy for the holiday, injecting him with methamphetamine, and strangling him. The father and daughters then tortured McGuire for two full days before finally killing him and burying him in the backyard. During the hearing, the convicted father described the scene in court as being "two to three days of hell". He added: "A black garbage bag was wrapped around his head by Amanda. Anna strangled him. I held him." When McGuire's mother got the opportunity to speak, she asked McClure who gave her the right to be God and take her son away from her. She even shed doubt on the motive and said she stole her son’s checks after his death.
Responding to the question, McClure said: "Mrs. Smith, the only answer I can give you as to why things happened is John was with me. My dad didn’t want anyone else near me. John told Larry that he loved me and we were going to get married," before pleading: "I wish I could bring John back. He was a good man." McGuire's mother meanwhile said her son's kids cry themselves to sleep every day of the week before saying that McClure "broke her heart". Smith said: "She broke my heart and my grandkids' heart. They cry every night for their daddy.” She even stated that she won't be able to forgive her for what's done. “I can’t forgive her right now. Maybe later, but I can’t forgive her right now."
