The first Presidential debate took place on Tuesday and it devolved into both candidates yelling, name-calling, and hurling insults at each other. But it was the moment Democratic nominee Joe Biden asked the POTUS to just "shut up" that had everyone surprised. The exasperated response came as Trump constantly kept talking over Biden, preventing him from properly answering the question asked by Fox News’ Chris Wallace, the moderator. Wallace asked Biden whether he would expand the number of seats on the Supreme Court or end the filibuster if he wins this year's Presidential race, reports Huffington Post

As the 77-year-old attempted to give a response to the question, the POTUS kept interrupting him incessantly. "Are you going to pack the court?" he said as Biden was speaking. "Are you going to pack the court? He doesn’t want to answer the question. ... Why won’t you answer that question?" were some of the things he said, before finally getting on his nerves. After attempting to answer the question several times, an irked Biden said, "Will you shut up, man? This is so unpresidential." Trump had been constantly interrupting others throughout the 90-minute debate and Wallace did ask Trump to stop speaking over others but his instructions fell on deaf ears and resulted in Bident's outburst.

According to a Washington Post tally, at one point Biden was interrupted ten times by Trump in less than three minutes. President's ceaseless intrusions during the debate made it difficult even for the moderator to keep his calm. At one point, Wallace had to plead Trump to let him ask his questions. "Let me ask my question," he expressed, before finally saying, "Mr. President, I’m the moderator of this debate, I’d like you to let me ask my question and then you can answer. … My question, sir, is what is the Trump health care plan?"

Of course, Trump fired back by challenging the moderator himself. "Well, first of all, I guess I’m debating you not him. But that’s OK, I’m not surprised," he said. As Wallace continued his attempts to take back control of the debate, Trump shut him down after calling him "fake news." When Biden noted that Trump needed to be smarter with his response to the pandemic, the President immediately interrupted his fellow candidate to take a shot at his intelligence. "Don't ever use the word 'smart' with me. You're not smart, Joe," he said. Meanwhile, the former Vice President continued expressing his annoyance with the President's frequent interruptions. "It’s hard to get any word in with this clown ― excuse me, this person," said Biden at one point. He even called Trump a "racist," a "clown" at one point.

Several attempts were made by Biden to label Trump as a dishonest person, especially his response to the coronavirus and how he left the American citizen in the dark with his false assurances. "The fact is that everything he has said tonight is a lie. Everyone knows he's a liar," said Biden. The topic of reopening businesses and schools despite the ongoing pandemic was brought up as well and Trump claims Democratic mayors and governors were trying to keep things closed until the elections are over to hurt his chances at being re-elected. "They think they're hurting us by keeping it closed. They're hurting people," said Trump according to NBC News. "And this guy will close down the whole country — he will destroy our country."

But Biden noted that reopening this early would hurt workers as the Trump administration was not equipped with resources to help schools reopen safely. "You can't fix the American economy until you fix the Covid crisis," said Biden. Trump further said the swing voters have grown tired of maintaining social distance and were mainly concerned about getting their kids back to school. He even took credit of Big Ten's decision to reopen. "I'm the one who brought back football," he said. Trump paying just $750 in federal taxes in 2016 and 2017 was brought up as well. During this testing exchange, Biden called the POTUS, "the worst president America has ever had," according to The New York Times report.
