U.S. Army Asked ‘How Has Serving Impacted You?’ People Gave 20 Unexpected Answers

Though there were people sharing a lot of positive experiences, people were also quick to share the consequences they'd faced after their service. 

Two days before Memorial Day, The U.S. Army's official Twitter account asked veterans to share how their service had impacted their lives, and it seemed like the answers they received to it weren't what they intended to get. Basically, the tweet was meant to stir up stories of patriotic pride but it seemed to have backfired, royally. Though there were people sharing a lot of positive experiences, people were also quick to share the consequences they'd faced after their service. 



 

1. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) seems to be a very common problem among veterans



 

2. You will need a support system to help deal with the trauma



 

3. The consequences are not easy to deal with



 

4. There seems to be so much that goes unknown and unnoticed

16. It's hard to ignore the negativity, especially when it's all around you



 

17. The feeling of not being able to fix things can be disturbing



 

18. The only way to cope with it is to pretend it never happened



 

19. Service men and women need more love and support
