“One of the toughest goodbyes. Wanted to make a special tribute to the sweetest boy ever — thank you for all the joy you brought and all the memories,” he captioned the post.
Tim Tebow had to put his beloved dog to sleep on Wednesday and is now in mourning over the loss of his best friend. The former NFL athlete, 32, took to Instagram to share a heartbreaking video of him feeding Bronco for the last time, only to break down in tears. According to People, the post also included several other pictures of Bronco and Tim, from the time he was a puppy to the last video they ever made together, showing how difficult it was for Bronco to breathe. If watching it made me cry like a baby, I can only begin to imagine the pain Tim must be in. It is never easy to lose someone who showers you with unconditional love.
Tim took Bronco home in 2010 when he was a small puppy. Tim took to Instagram to post: One of the toughest goodbyes. I wanted to make a special tribute to the sweetest boy ever - thank you for all the joy you brought and all the memories. Aunt Patty, thank you for loving him and thank you to all the other people including Miss Shea and Miss Mindy for sharing so much love with Bronco. If you had the pleasure of meeting Bronco, one of the best dogs ever, I would love to hear your story.
He also added: "Also, thank you for taking care of him every time he was sick - SEVO-Med, Blue Pearl Vet and UF Small Animal Vet Hospital (Go Gators)." Tebow received Bronco, a “stud” Rhodesian Ridgeback, as a gift after he was selected as the 25th pick by the Denver Broncos in 2010, he told AOL.com in 2018. “It made sense when I just got drafted by the Broncos,” he told the outlet about picking the dog’s name. “We’ve always liked the name, we always liked that truck, so we talked about it and we were like, yeah, that’s really cool.”
Last year, Tebow empathized with AOL, “For so many people, [dogs] are our best friends and they provide so much joy and love.” Back then, he also said that it doesn't matter where Tebow's constantly evolving career takes him. he says the "sweet and loving" Bronco is always by his side. Several people took to Tim's post to share their own experiences. One user wrote: "We lost our Kali girl a little over 2 years ago."
"She was an amazing part of our family for 15 years, my boy practically grew up w/ her through college, and she was the glue that held our family together even after a divorce. There were only smiles and laughter when Kali was around, she was truly that special. I more than understand your loss Tim and feel for you and all those who were around Bronco. Heck man, I still can’t go down the dog food aisle - it’s just too tough. We were extremely blessed to have “pets” like Kali and Bronco and rest knowing that they are no longer in pain and are chasing balls thrown by the Big Ball Thrower in Heaven - where the grass is always green and the water is always clear and warm! Peace be w/ you, Tim."
