It is the closest you get to the wizarding world!
Halloween is around the corner and Harry Potter and other characters from the series are a crowd favorite. It's easy, and it's fun. It also goes without mentioning that the franchise does have a huge fan following across the globe. With the pandemic making a dent on the celebrations this year, if you are a Harry Potter fan, then maybe you could head out to this pad in Yorkshire, England, that is designed to look exactly like Gryffindor's wing (sorry Slytherin fans) in Hogwarts. Trust me, this cottage will make you feel like you've just gotten past the fat lady after listening to her singing.
The quaint little cottage comes with four handmade wooden poster beds and a lounge area that is just so similar to the school's common room for students complete with a lofty fireplace and a kitchen, that is sure to put you in the mood for all things Potter. The place also has stained-glass windows. One of them depicts the image of a mermaid, the one in the Goblet of Fire movie. Named aptly as the Dorm Room, the Gryffindor-themed cottage is part of the six-acre holiday home called the North Shire located at the on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, according to Daily Mail.
As per Teeside Live, the cottage comes with familiar features such as red curtains, bedspreads, and the golden roman numerals etched on the front of their frames. It also tries to replicate some of the finer and luxurious look of the Hogwarts Castle in the bathroom, with its ornate Gothic style mirrors and golden hand basins. These are shaped as giant shells. The owner and designer of the holiday home is a business entrepreneur and designer named Carol Cavendish, who opened the place in 2010. The Gryffindor-inspired cottage will cost £50 ($64) per night per person, and the total occupancy of the cottage is 6 persons.
"This truly magical cottage has been designed to replicate the castle turret dorm room at a magical school that one particular boy wizard went to!" read the property's website. It adds that the cozy fireplace, stained glass, and flickering candles are "truly is reminiscent of a magical dormitory from the wizarding world." The kitchen is also fully equipped for "self-catering and a truly opulent private bathroom with a very special surprise feature, it’s the perfect getaway for family and friends alike," the website added. Apart from The Dorm, there's another Harry-Potter themed accommodation, known as the Hagrid Hut. The Dorm and the Hagrid Hut are part of a Harry Potter-themed cottage called the Groundkeeper's Cottage that opened some time ago.
"The cottage is configured as three interlocking circular rooms, with squat, medieval-looking turrets and mismatched stained-glass windows as a nod to the gothic demeanor of many of your favorite wizarding tales," the website added. It stated further, "Its stooped doorway is lit by lanterns and the cottage is surrounded by fields that lead to views of the Yorkshire coast." They also have something that has been built after the Lord Of The Rings theme. The stone-built cottage is located on the edge of the Forbidden Forest. Like the Dorm Room, it also accommodates six people and has medieval-looking turrets, a freestanding copper bathtub, and mismatched stained-glass windows.
But if you want to try a bit more modern and luxurious accommodation, then there is another staycation themed after French Chateaus. These are called the "La Petit Chateus" and have been described as "an attractive, sandstone cottage a mile from Liverton village, adjoining the owners’ home amidst open countryside." These were converted from an old barn with four suites. "Downstairs the Cavendish Suite provides traditional English countryside luxury while the Woodland Suite is a nod to all things magical. Upstairs, the Peacock Suite provides glamor and color, while the Devonshire Suite provides simplistic elegance. All suites have their own ensuites," the website added.
