Bessemer City High School's annual graduation was held on Thursday and Dominque Moore noticed one student sitting alone long after the event was over.
When a student was left alone to celebrate his own graduation ceremony, his kind and generous teacher came to his rescue. Bessemer City High School's annual graduation was held on Thursday and the event was coordinated by many teachers, one of them being Dominque Moore. After the successful completion of the festivities, Moore stayed back to help clean up. Most of the attendees had already left the location by then to celebrate the occasion with their families and friends, however, there was one young boy who was still seated all by himself. When Moore noticed him, he was unsure of what he was doing there and so he approached him.
"I know his moods and I knew he wasn’t himself," Moore told AL.com. of the student. "I asked him, 'Where are your people?' and he was like, 'Nobody’s here.'" The heartbreaking response was not what he had expected, so after a brief silence, he decided to encourage him to do great things. "I expect big things from you and it’s going to be OK," assured the teacher. Moore waited with the boy hoping that someone would eventually arrive at the location to give the graduate a ride him. But to both their dismay no one did. So, Moore decided to offer him a ride back home being totally unaware of how the short trip would change their lives.
Before dropping him off, Moore decided to treat him at any restaurant of his choice and thus ended up at the Cheesecake Factory. There, the duo enjoyed a hearty meal and dessert in celebration of the student's achievements, reports Good News Network. But it wasn't that easy because both were struggling to hold back tears initially and slowly they began having a great time. Moore didn't ask the reason why his family didn't attend the ceremony because the only thing that mattered was that the young graduated felt appreciated for the feat he had accomplished.
This touching moment meant so much to Moore that he decided to share a photo of the two dining on Facebook. The educator, who says he doesn't normally post about such situations, explained how he couldn't imagine "graduating high school and my folks not being there. These bonds go beyond the class." He also recalled Crazy thing is I use to put him out of class almost every day for cutting up. In an update, he provided his Cash App ID in the post ($mooredaeducator) as the boy didn't have one and urged people who wanted to be a "blessing" to the boy to donate whatever they could.
Soon, donations started pouring in and after raising over $5,000, he took the student to open a checking account and is now helping him to buy a car and save up for college. He is out done at the out pour of support you all are showing. I let him read every comment and post you all posted!!!! I told him ain’t no crying in my whip lil homie !!!!! The sweet gesture of the teacher struck a chord with the public, who flooded him with words of praise. Big congrats on your graduation! You are going to do amazing things.
