There's nothing in this world that can comfort a grieving parent. While parenthood is a bumpy ride, people are more than happy to embark on one because it makes them so proud and happy to see their young ones grow up to be amazing humans. Sadly, not everyone is given that opportunity as fate can be rather cruel and rob them of such happiness in life. And this is no different for celebrities. Sylvester Stallone, who has entertained generations for ages now with his graceful performances, resorted to an almost irrevocable silence after he lost his elder son, Sage. Sage was the firstborn child of Stallone and his first wife, Sasha Czack.

According to CNN, Sage died due to a heart attack caused by atherosclerosis in his Los Angeles apartment on July 13, 2012. He was only 36 at the time. The Rocky star was shattered by the loss of his son and in an emotional speech after the death of his eldest child, he begged for solitude and privacy while he grieved. "When a parent loses a child there is no greater pain. Therefore I am imploring people to respect my talented son’s memory and feel compassion for his loving mother Sasha," he said. "This agonizing loss will be felt for the rest of our lives. Sage was our first child and the center of our universe and I am humbly begging for all to have my son’s memory and soul left in peace," said the actor's statement, according to Metro.

Stallone and Sage didn't really have an easy relationship, but nevertheless, it's just not easy to lose a child. When Stallone and Czack went their separate ways, his relationship with Sage was affected. But years later, they buried the hatchet and went to appear in movies and interviews together. Stallone worked with Sage in Rocky V and their on-screen presence was simply mesmerizing. Sage had already acted in movies like Daylight in 1996 where his father played the lead. Sage had quite a flourishing career, especially because his father was a role model. He went on to become an actor and also donned the hat of a producer.

While he did suffer from health issues on and off, no one expected him to bid farewell to the world at such a young age. This explains why Sage's sudden and untimely death affected his father, Sylvester Stallone so badly. He resorted to silence to cope with the loss of his son. He chose to deal with his pain in silence and canceled all public appearances so that he had some time alone for him to grieve alone. But a month later, in August 2012, the actor opened up about losing Sage during a film promotion. "It's very, very tough. It's a horrible situation, but time hopefully will heal, and you try to get through it, but it's just something that's a reality of life," said Stallone.

He continued, "It's important to get back and try to start reliving your life, otherwise you can go into a spiral," as per The Hollywood Reporter. However, Stallone managed to spring back and paid a moving tribute to Sage through his Golden Globe Award-winning performance in Creed. According to Hello Magazine, when reporters asked him if the loss of his son impacted his work, he said, "Any time you can do things that are real, I think it’s very, very helpful, and with my son, I want to respect his memory, and I think we did so." It's been eight years but Stallone will never get over Sage's death.
