She gushed about their relationship and said that they worked hard to get to this level of comfort of the span of four decades
For most couples, the honeymoon period fizzles out over a period of time. Therefore, they try and work to keep that spark alive. But Suzanne Somers and husband Alan Hamel are here to prove that it's not always the case. The two have been married for over four decades (they tied the knot in 1977), but they're still head over heels for each other. According to PEOPLE, Somers, 74, revealed that she and her husband 84, still get down and dirty. In fact, they had sex thrice a day, and this happens before noon! The Three's Company star got candid in a recent interview on the podcast Heather Dubrow's World, where she shared some details of her sex life.
"At this stage of life, most people think that's over the hill. What time is it, noon? I had sex with him three times so far today," said Somers. Her husband likes to wake up early. She revealed, "What is this thing about 4:30 in the morning that's suddenly like, 'Oh there he is.' I'm like, 'Could you just wait 'til the sun comes up?'" She spoke about how wonderful their relationship has always been, and more so now as it's just the two of them because their children have grown up and moved away. She noted,"God, our relationship has always been amazing," adding, "But now that our kids are raised and it's just me and Al, and we paid for the tuition, we paid for the weddings and helped them get their start — now it's just us. Man, are we having fun."
In 2019, Daily Mail reported that Somers and her husband took shots of PT-141, a melanocortin-based peptide to add some oomph to their sex life. "I'm kind of in that groove, like when you were younger and you're in the mood all the time, and so is he because he's on hormone replacements," she said. The couple has always included plant-based or bioidentical hormones in their diet for nutrition, but added shots of PT-141 to their routine after learning it is a "sexual stimulant that works on your brain."
"I thought, 'Wow, what a great thing.' Because men have had Viagra, but this is actually a shot for both men and women that's not a drug," she explained. "It just stimulates that part of your brain that says, 'Hey, I'm kind of in the mood.' And, so, isn't that a wonderful thing? And it's not a drug, so I love it." At the time, the star explained that they took the shot once a week and they had sex twice a day, though most of their contemporaries couldn't even get out of bed. "I usually say I sleep through one of them. That's usually that one at 4 o'clock in the morning," she joked. "But, you know, then again around 8 o'clock in the morning, I'm in the mood." In November last year, the couple celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary.
Somers took to Instagram to celebrate the occasion. She captioned a sweet video: Happy Anniversary Al! My darling, @therealalanhamel - how I love being your wife. Married today 44 years and together 53 years! I don’t want to spend a day without you. What a life! Happy Anniversary! Thank you to @brucesomersjr and @carolinesomers for this beautiful video. Now, the two of them are happy and that's all that matters. "We worked hard to get to this place where we’re comfortable," says Somers. "And we are so content together. We dance together, and we have a cocktail together at night. It’s romantic and sexy. And it’s not old people romantic. It’s cool!"
