Located in Portugal, this centuries-old vineyard has rooms made of wine barrels with all the creature comforts you could ask for.
Nothing dissipates a bad mood quite like a glass of chilled wine at the end of a day. But what if we told you that you could take it to the next level? Surprised? Don't be. You can now spend a night or two inside a giant wine barrel and indulge in some fine wine thanks to the Quinta da Pacheca estate. Waking up in the middle of a vineyard sounds downright divine, wouldn't you agree?
Overlooking the fantastic view of a 140-acre vineyard, it is a perfect getaway for a wine lover. Based in Douro, Portugal, the 30-meter suites are a magnified version of a barrel. The 280-year-old plush estate is created using pine wood and is designed by property owners Paulo Pereira and Maria do Céu Gonçalves, reports The Metro. A representative from the state described the estate as, "an idyllic and romantic setting, these wine barrel rooms will provide visitors a unique experience of the nature and significance of the Douro wine region."
Although it's shaped like a barrel it obviously doesn't come with its old and boring interiors. The rooms feature comforts such as a private toilet and wardrobe with the addition of a walk-in shower! And just when you think that it couldn't get better, the designers surprise you with a large round bed and skylight window to experience the best of both worlds. Fitted with air-conditioners and Wi-Fi connections, it is the ultimate holiday experience. "Quinta da Pacheca created the wine barrels as a bold architectural project of suites to reinforce the originality of the wine tourism offered at the site," continues the representative.
You can begin your day with breakfast after which you can set out to explore the 140-acre vineyard which has been operating for 116 years. If you wish to get your hands on the vineyard's bottles, make your way towards a nearby 18th-century house that stores red, white, rosé, and port wine. In addition to indulging in delicious wine, you are provided with samples of locally made jam and olive oil. For dinner, you can simply head towards your stay or visit their restaurant, while taking a peek at one of the 15 wine-making rooms. Finally, retire in your ultra-cozy beds overlooking the stars and the moon through the skylight.
If you're not very sure about the £219 ($283.72) a night price tag and still wish to taste their delectable wine, you can always choose to stay at their normal hotel rooms situated in the main house. However, if you do choose to stay in their suite for even a day, you might just end up staying there for a few more.
