Amy Schumer just gave birth to her first child with husband Chris Fischer! "Our Royal baby was born".
While all the buzz is around Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's first child, another Royal baby was born on May 5th and Amy Schumer has made sure to remind everyone of it. As reported by PEOPLE Magazine, the 37-year-old actress and comedian gave birth to her first child on May 5th at 10:55 p.m. The announcement of the birth of her son with husband Chris Fischer was made via an Instagram post shared by the actress. The birth of her son and Meghan Markle's child were made on May 6. Since their due dates were around the same time, it is no surprise that Amy Schumer jokingly compared herself to Meghan Markle. When Amy Schumer announced her pregnancy last year, she said, “I look forward to competing with Markle every step of the way.” She did stay true to her word as she gave birth just hours before the Duchess of Sussex did.
The Trainwreck star shared the news on Instagram on Monday afternoon, writing, 10:55 pm last night. Our royal baby was born. The picture showed her husband, Chris Fischer leaning down to give his drained out wife a kiss right above the cheek while she held the newborn in her arms. It was almost inevitable that the actress and comedian would make a reference to the Royal baby. well, her baby surely is royal in his own way, isn't he?
The baby announcement came soon after Schumer posted a photo from the Met Gala steps. She announced that she wouldn't be attending the Met gala (obviously). Since she wasn't present at Monday night's big fashion event, she posed for a picture outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art (where people were setting up for the event) showing off her baby bump, hours before she went into labor. Met look this year. Last night on the way to the hospital 👠, she joked in the caption. She was all smiles in the two snapshots she posted since her due date had almost arrived.
The name of the baby has not been announced. The only thing the fans know so far is that she had a son. She casually announced the sex of the child at the end of a tweet calling attention to her efforts to protect farmworker women.
"Hey! We love @chancetherapper and hate to be the ones to tell him that Wendys is the only fast food chain refusing to protect farmworker women from sexual assault and rape in the fields. This is true. Please read that sentence again. Message for the people in charge: Instead of spicy nuggets, we want food that is harvested with dignity NOT violence. Please join the @fairfoodprogram and #BoycottWendys link in my bio of how you can help. Also we are having a boy."
In response to Schumer's post, Wendy's said to Bustle, "This is a complex issue, but be assured that we do not purchase the field grown product that the Fair Food Program covers. In fact, Wendy’s is proud to only purchase tomatoes from indoor hydroponic North American farms." Schumer has been very open about the ups and downs of her pregnancy from the very start. Her range of being candid about the process went from posts about puking, to doctor's office snapshots, to mirror selfies boasting about not puking. She also strategically used the added attention to highlight causes she cares about, including farmworkers' rights (as mentioned above) and voting in the midterm elections.
During this time, she made sure to have fun with the Meghan Markle comparisons as well. She took full advantage of the fact that they were on similar timelines. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times in October last year, the new mom said, "Chris and I are thrilled and almost positive he’s the father. I look forward to competing with Markle every step of the way." Oh, and she even went as far as photoshopping her and Fischer's faces onto Markle and Prince Harry's bodies.
