Hollywood star Richard Gere and his gorgeous wife Alejandra Silva have welcomed their second child together- and it's a boy! The newborn joins the couple's 14-month-old son Alexander and is the Pretty Woman actor's third child, including 20-year-old son Homer, he shared with his former wife Carey Lowell. For the 37-year-old mother, the baby boy also joins her son Albert, 7, she has from a previous marriage. The news, which was first reported by HELLO! Magazine comes shortly after a source close to the pair confirmed the pregnancy while speaking to PEOPLE in November, nine months after Silva gave both to Alexander in February.
One day something sparked between Gere and Silva who have known each other for over a decade. The two reconnected in 2014, having met years ago, at Treville hotel in Positano, Italy which was managed by Silva at the time and began dating. "A friend introduced us, we looked at each other and felt a very strong connection. We couldn't stop looking at each other all night, and since then we haven't been apart," she told HELLO! Magazine. Their love story was nothing short of a fairy tale the 70-year-old actor creates in his romantic movies.
Despite having a rocky beginning, the Spanish businesswoman said in a previous interview that they were destined to be together. "Love stories with a complicated beginning, where you have to overcome difficulties together, can bring you closer... I'm sure I did [have some doubts] at some point. In the beginning, he was more convinced than me. But from very early on, we felt that we were destined to be together," said Silva. Gere, who is known to be a ladies' man didn't slack when it mattered the most and made sure that his lady love knows just how special she was for him.
"I feel like I'm in a true fairytale," said Alejandra. "Without a doubt, I feel like the luckiest woman in the world… What could be more romantic than a man who writes you songs every day?" Even the marriage proposal was very romantic, which Silva wished to keep secret. "This was really a private moment, just for the two of us, but what I can tell you is that he asked me to marry him in the most romantic hotel I've been to, in St Paul de Vence [in the South of France], on my birthday. I get emotional just remembering it," she said. The love birds tied the knot in April 2018, in an Indian-inspired fairytale wedding.
Back then an insider told PEOPLE that the pair is "extraordinarily happy" following their wedding. "They're so comfortable with each other, have fun together, and are looking forward to their future together," the source added. Following the news of his marriage, a film source who has known the actor for years told PEOPLE, "Richard has been much happier in this half of his life because he is settled, confident, and doing what he likes." The actor was overjoyed to share all the simple joys of life with his partner and considered himself lucky to have found someone like Silva.
"I'm the happiest man in the universe. How could I not be?" he said during an interview. "How could I not be? I'm married to a beautiful woman who is smart, sensitive, committed to helping people, who's fun, patient, who knows how to forgive, who's a great cook – and who makes the best salads in the world! Alejandra meditates, she's a vegetarian, a great mother, has the touch of an angel... and she's also Spanish: the land of kings and queens, of Cervantes and Buñuel... You can't get any better than that."
