Even the Miami Beach mayor, Dan Gelber, was present to express his gratitude because Saul and Keon do much more than just pick trash.
The world is slowly getting back on its feet though it may not really be the best thing yet. We can say that because we have the privilege to sit at home, away from all the chaos. But, there are people who have no choice but to get out there and do their job. Yes, I am talking about the essential workers who did not have the luxury of staying home while the world is battling the invisible virus. They were out there, doing their jobs, and now, people are realizing their worth and contribution, and have decided to give them the acknowledgment they deserve. According to Good News Network, Saul and Keon have never missed a day from work, and the Miami Beach community decided to express their gratitude to them.
Garbage Men Break Down in Tears When Residents Surprise Them With ‘Thank You’ Party Attended By Mayor https://t.co/qLKUMVfsNS— Travis Akers (@travisakers) June 27, 2020
They were on their way to work one day, with no idea about the surprise that awaited them. When the two of them cruised down the street into the North Bay Road community, they were surprised to see how scores of people had gathered around early in the morning and lined the street with signs and balloons, all to simply say "we love you." Jennifer Elegant says she wanted to show her gratitude to the essential workers whom she called “extraordinary”, so she organized a socially distanced surprise "thank you" celebration for Saul and Keon and for everything they'd done so far. They received a lot of gifts and cards from the people who were gathered there to thank them.

The Miami Beach mayor, Dan Gelber, was present to express his gratitude because Saul and Keon do much more than just pick trash. “They bring an incredible, positive energy to the entire neighborhood,” Elegant said. “Simply put, they spread joy.” These two men are the epitome of joy. The residents say that the two of them always have a smile on their face and have always been cordial. They also reportedly never miss a chance to lend a helping hand to someone who may need it. A prime example of that is when Saul spent 45 minutes digging through the trash one day to help a woman look for her wedding ring. He even waited over an hour with another person until the ambulance arrived.
It's disgusting that some ppl have worked this entire pandemic and haven't received any raises, bonuses, or anything. These jobs don't give a fuck about their workers and it's disgusting.— soap bae 🧼 (@yeahbutnaw) June 25, 2020
Elegant has had “meaningful discussions” with these amazing sanitation workers about their inspiring levels of happiness, and she usually takes these conversations back to her class of psychology students at Miami Dade College. “They continue to maintain their upbeat demeanor even during this stressful COVID-19 pandemic, sacrificing their own safety in order to keep our city clean and beautiful,” she said. “Every day we are surrounded by heroes who bring us inspiration and joy but too often we are unable to recognize these special individuals for the impact they make on others. I wanted Saul and Keon to know that we are thankful from the bottom of our hearts.”
