“This offer remains open indefinitely! Don’t abort your baby! We will adopt! Please contact us if you’d be open to adoption as an option! We will adopt from any state. Please do not hesitate to contact us!”, said the couple.
A couple from Virginia went viral after they put up a Facebook post encouraging people who were planning on abortion to have the baby instead, saying that they'd adopt the baby. Sarah Marie and Blake Thomas's post soon went viral and they even managed to be successful with their endeavor. The viral Facebook post read: This offer remains open indefinitely! Don’t abort your baby! We will adopt! Please contact us if you’d be open to adoption as an option! We will adopt from any state. Please do not hesitate to contact us! This was posted on January 28 and almost instantly received over 24k likes and was shared 87k times.
However, there was an update and Sarah took to her Facebook to let people know. She posted: Thanks to everyone who has expressed interest in helping these women. At this time, we are no longer receiving messages and the women who contacted us have been referred to Pregnancy Resource Centers or adoption agencies. Thank you! Dozens of expectant mothers contacted us, many of whom were contemplating or planning abortions.
Many of those mothers are now considering parenting their babies and others are actively pursuing adoption. We have had the great honor of accepting one mother’s request that we adopt her baby. It has been a whirlwind of a week and we are still processing all of it. We are so grateful for all of these babies’ lives and their mothers, and we feel so privileged and honored to be parents again in approximately 7 months!
However, this will not be the first baby they are raising through adoption. The Thomas family is raising a 1-year-old biological son together with 3-year-old Kayden, who’s been adopted through foster care. The couple has described him as a “blessing and such a joy.” Sarah also opened her doors to people in need of help. She wrote: If you (or anyone you know) are being pressured to abort and you need someone to support you in your decision we will support you in your decision and help you through your pregnancy! Or if you need a place to stay you are welcome to our spare bedroom! You can do this and your baby needs you!!
She also said that she received a heartbreaking message on her Facebook, that sadly went into the spam folder before she could see it. It read: I wish I had seen your post before I aborted. I would have given my daughter the life she deserved, away from her abusive father instead of deciding her fate. A lot of people were thanking them for what they were doing and showering them with love and blessings.
