Police Warn Shoppers To Keep Their Bags Secured To Shopping Carts During Holiday Season

This is quite a simple solution to avoid theft in supermarkets and many have appreciated this idea to stop people stealing your bags.

With December just two days, it's time to be jolly and, in fact, to also be wary. As many people will be hitting the streets and stores to get their shopping done for the festive season, police officers issue warnings to keep your belongings safe as well. When you're wondering which gift to pick for your family, you will probably be paying more attention to the stuff on the aisle than the stuff in your cart, which could include your bag as well. This is the perfect time for those lurking thieves to snatch it and run away with it. So, in an effort to combat this, the New Hampshire police department have advised shoppers to implement a simple trick.

They took to Facebook to share an important tip: "A holiday shopping safety tip for women. When using a shopping cart as you browse through the store, keep your purse zipped or closed and secure it to the cart by clipping the child safety belt through the strap(s). This will help in preventing someone from taking advantage of your distraction and running off with the purse. For those carts that don’t have the child strap, keep an inexpensive carabiner clip attached to your purse strap. Simply clip the carabiner to the cart and your purse is more secure. HAPPY SHOPPING!"

This way, no one will be able to take advantage of you and your distractions. There are ways around this and a thief yielding a knife could just cut through the belt and take it, but you have to admit that this is not an easy task, and it might be a while before they can actually flee with your bag. It's worth taking a shot at, don't you think? One small act of security could potentially cause the thief to drop their plans and move forward.

A lot of people commented on the post. Kathy Grubb wrote: "I always do this have been doing this for a few yrs. Even though people look at me like I am crazy at least I am safer then they are with my purse."

Tina Barcellona added: "I had a friend that was dragged through a parking lot b/c she did not want to let it go. A car came by and a man grabbed it. Always keep your bag on the inside on the travel way. We want to hold onto these bags.....I hope this might help someone. Be safe."
