Jason Momoa Shaves Off His Beard After 7 Years For His "Kids, Your Kids, The World" Because "It's Time To Make A Change"

The 'Aquaman' actor believes that it's time to make a change. His transformation was inspired by a new line of canned water that the star created.

Jason Momoa is one of the hottest men alive and there is no one who would argue with that. After Aquaman came out last December, the entire world agreed that he is as masculine as the stereotypical idea of masculinity gets! He is tall, insanely built, has long hair, good looks, and an amazing beard. The actor has apparently not shaved his beard off for the past seven years! For the first time in seven years, we get to see what he looks like under that gorgeous beard of his as Momoa has decided to finally make a change in his appearance. Unlike most other celebrities, Jason Momoa's change in appearance is done for a good cause. The 39-year-old actor wants to see a major change in the health of the planet and believes that he first needed to make a change in his appearance. The big moment was shared on his YouTube page.

'Goodbye Drogo, Aquaman, Declan, [and] Baba!' Momoa wrote — referencing the bearded characters he played in Game of Thrones, Aquaman, Frontier, and his upcoming TV series See, respectively. “I’m shaving this beast off, it’s time to make a change.” Jason Momoa has not shaved his beard even once since 2012. During the video, he mentioned that it was his first time in seven years that he is taking the beard off completely. In the video, the actor is seen cutting away his long beard in the middle of the desert to reveal his bare chin. “Looks pretty good!” he remarked.

Momoa’s transformation was inspired by a new line of canned water that he is helping launch with the Ball Corporation. In the video, Momoa explains that we should use aluminous cans instead of plastic bottles to store water as they are 100 percent recyclable. Plastic that is used to store and sell water is not recyclable and takes hundreds of years to be broken down naturally. It just ruins the environment. The actor wants to see a change in the health of the planet. He wishes that people would stop using plastic and use other products instead because plastic is one of the most harmful materials in the world.

“I just want to do this to bring awareness because plastics are killing our planet and I think we have a solution,” said Momoa. “I don’t want to bitch about it [but] there’s only one thing that will really help our planet and save our planet — as long as we recycle — and that’s aluminum.”

He further added, “About 75 percent of all aluminum that’s ever been used is still in use today, and it’s 100 percent recyclable. You drink the can and in about 60 days, it’ll be back. 100 percent. Infinitely recyclable.” He explained how he has been working on getting aluminum water for the past two months.

"I wanted to make my own water so I could be an example. So I had a product I could take out to give to the world. And that I could take to other companies in hope that they could do the same. I’m on a quest. It’s my journey. It’s just water but I feel good about it,” Momoa said. “I know I’m going to recycle this and I know that we can recycle it.” The 39-year-old actor released a new line of water which is available in still, alkaline, sparkling, and spring water.

He added, “So please, please. There’s a change coming. Aluminum. We got to get rid of these plastic water bottles. Aquaman’s trying to do the best he can. For your kids, for my kids, for the world. Clean up the oceans, clean up the land.” Momoa might have shaved off his beard for a good cause but thanks to his wife, his long hair still remains. Lisa Bonet loves his long hair and would never let him get it cut. “My wife would leave me if I cut my hair so I just don’t cut my hair,” Momoa said back in December. “I am not cutting my hair for a while, I will tell you that much.” It is as though his long hair was one of the criteria for their relationship ever since the two met back in 2005.

“We just happened to be in the right place at the right time,” the actor, 39, told James Corden in 2017 about the first time he met Bonet in a jazz club in N.Y.C. “I actually had dreaded my hair for her. I had dreadlocks, she had dreadlocks. I literally turned around and I see her and she goes, ‘I’m Lisa.’ ”

He continued, “I turned around to my friend and I [pretended to scream]. I had f—ing fireworks going off inside, man.” Momoa and Bonet have been together ever since. They got married in October 2017 and have two children together.

Momoa mentioned to PEOPLE that he has no plans of cutting his hair for professional reasons either. “I am going to be playing this guy for a while and I don’t want to wear a wig,” he said about his Aquaman character and shooting sequels to his hit movie. “I think we are good for the next two years.” The fans love the fact that he is trying to save the planet and is spreading awareness about the importance of recycling and the health of the planet. However, they were all surprised by his transformation and really miss his beard.
