Matthew Jr. has been breathing and feeding with the help of machines since he was born on April 29 when his mother passed away.
A wave of shock and despair struck a beautiful family when the mother unexpectedly lost her life giving birth to her child. Fortunately, the victim, Lauren Accurso's son miraculously survived this whole ordeal. Her son was admitted to the NICU at the Wolfson Children’s Hospital due to this critical condition reports WJXT. Accurso is survived by her husband and three other children who were in deep shock by the news of her sudden demise.

Even the family pastor Matt McCloghry was shattered after he learned about Accurso. "[It was] very sudden, really, just through text message and a phone: Something is happening, and we need to pray, said McCloghry, adding, "It was really shortly thereafter a group of us went down to the hospital, and we heard the news."A GoFundMe Page was created to aid the family who required money for the child who was battling death. The page has since raised $163,100 in just 15 days.
According to the story mentioned in the GoFundMe Page, the 37-year-old mother of four was said to have died due to a rare medical emergency that wasn't preventable. "There are no words to describe the pain and heartbreak felt by so many," reads the post. "Most especially for Matt and their girls Ali, Naomi, and Layne, and their new baby boy," it further adds. Matthew the father and husband is said to be "deeply grieving the loss of their most precious wife."
PEOPLE reports MCCloghry told multiple media outlets the Accurso had a "bright smile and a caring heart.” Describing her personality he further added, "Her personality was just lovely. She was so bubbly. She was an incredible wife and incredible mom but she was a strong believer." Ever since her death, their infant son was kept under critical care and reports have intimated a miraculous recovery of the baby boy. His family informed how he was taken off life support on Tuesday.
Born on April 29, Matthew Jr. had been "suffering from significant brain injury due to a prolonged period without oxygen during his birth," conveyed his father Matthew Accurso through a heart-wrenching post on Facebook, which was shared by their family pastor. Although his mother passed away the tiny soul fought with the odds of complications and came out victorious. The GoFundMe page was organized by Mary and Peter Camiolo, and they had been providing step by step updates on the newborn's progress.
Initially, the child who was "is in great need of prayer at this time" had difficulty breathing on his own and hence had to be put under artificial ventilation. But since Tuesday he has been breathing on his own and "digesting food like a champ," informed the Camiolo pair. Matthew's post shared my pastor McCloghry said, I want to start out by letting everyone know how thankful I am for each and every person around the world who has been lifting me, Lauren, my daughters, my son Matthew and the rest of our family up in prayer. The texts and emails have given us more encouragement and hope than you will ever know. Please know that we would love to connect with each and every one of you but the circumstances make that nearly impossible.
He further wrote: Today was one of the hardest days of my life. It will forever be etched in my brain. I sat in a room at Wolfsons hospital with 15 highly qualified medical professionals who all care deeply for our son Matthew. Unfortunately, the last thing I ever thought I would have to talk about as a father was now very real and happening. The infant's father went on to explain the complications: several serious complications related to cognitive function and development have become a reality for Matthew. At this time Matthew is being supported by a breathing machine requiring an airway tube, and also a feeding tube.
Matthew Sr. added: TODAY, I was faced with something no father should ever have to face. The decision to place Matthew on endless life supporting contraptions and medications or allow God to carry him where He will. The father then noted how he considered his child a "living miracle," as he didn't succumb to his complications, instead opened his eyes and started breathing on his own. In the emotional Facebook post, Matthew wrote: "Often times we consider things miracles when the miracle looks how we want it to look. What I’ve learned is that miracles are miracles whether we choose to see them or not. My miracle was having my soul mate by my side for almost 20 years and then being so blessed to give her 4 gorgeous babies. My miracle is holding my son for as many precious moments as possible and when the time comes, lifting him up to his mommy so that she can hold him for the first time in paradise"
Finally, he ended the post by thanking everyone who prayed and supported his family through his difficult time. Thank you so much for all of the love and support that you have showered Matthew and our family with. It is because of your prayers that we have been able to have the sweetest family times around Matthew. I would be so grateful for your prayers in the coming days as we work with the doctors and medical staff and plan to see Matthew off to his mommy and Heavenly Father.
