The month of December brings along with it an infectious festive cheer that one simply cannot avoid. This further encourages us to do a good deed or two resulting in several heartwarming stories. However, this particular story that I'm about to share has little to do with that and a lot to do with embarrassment. Mary Katherine Backstrom, a popular American blogger recently shared an embarrassing moment on Facebook which quickly went viral. In the footage, the Florida resident mentions how she had decided to do a good deed for a complete stranger in a gas station convenience store—little did she know that it was just the beginning of her most embarrassing moment.
While waiting at the gas station she came across many Facebook posts that spoke about the joy of sharing the holiday spirit. So, when she noticed a woman behind in her line waiting for a ginger ale, she made up her mind to pass this spirit along by purchasing the drink for her. Of course, the woman was moved by this kind and a lovely gesture and Backstrom left the store feeling content. As she approached her car she found a man cleaning the windshield of her vehicle. She was completely floored by this kind gesture and couldn't believe how magical the holiday season was. Overwhelmed by this act, Backstrom walked up to the man and gave him a huge hug to thank him.
She went on to tell the stranger how much she loved humanity and the magic of Christmas and then she realized something that left viewers in stitches. It wasn't her car! "It wasn’t my car. He was parked directly in front of me!" explained Backstrom between her infectious laughter. This Facebook live video was viewed 31 million times and garnered over 110,000 likes. Additionally, it prompted thousands of positive comments from viewers from all around the world. One Facebook user wrote: Omg! No way! This has to be one of the funniest things I have ever heard! Maybe he needed the hug! Lol😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤦🏻♀️ Another noted that her infection laugh was the funniest thing in the video. OMG 🤣🤣🤣🤣 The funniest part of this whole thing is you laughing!
According to a report by 7 News, Backstrom spoke to an outlet and said, "I think the reason it is resonating is that the holidays can be a very hard time for adults, and we forget about the levity of holiday magic and crave it in these times." She added, "This one moment has returned so much laughter and encouragement to my life that I have to think there is something to this. Humans miss warm interactions, even if they are a little... erm... bizarre."
