Newborn Baby Who Was Cut Out Of Slain Mom's Womb Finally Opens His Eyes And Sees Father

Marlen Ochao-Lopez a 19-year-old mom, was found strangled to death after which her baby was cut out of her body.

Marlen Ochao-Lopez had been missing since April 23. The 19-year-old pregnant woman's corpse was discovered choked to death last Wednesday confirmed PEOPLE. Her unborn baby who was a little ahead of the due date by then had been cut out from her womb post the death of the mother. The day the child was removed from Marlen's body, the authorities received a 911 call where a 46-year-old woman reportedly said that her baby was not breathing.

A Chicago spokeswoman informed PEOPLE that the child was indeed Marlen's son. According to Fox 23, the baby who was named Yavani Yadiel Lopez by the family, had no brain function when he was first brought in. Describing his condition as grave the police spokesperson said that Yavani had to be put under life support due to his critical condition. Despite the serious condition, the baby seems to have been fighting the odds with all his might. A picture clicked by a student pastor on Sunday recently surfaced.

This photograph shows a father smiling down at his sleeping son in his arms, who is attached to several tubes. CNN reports the child had opened his eyes when the picture was first clicked. Cecilia Garcia, the student pastor who has been helping the family through this tough time said, "We were just praying and praying and he opened his eyes, and his dad said, 'Oh my God, he opened his eyes.'" She added, "We've been blessed, although this is a really bad tragedy, they're such a loving and humble family and it's just so wrong what happened to them."

The pastor also reveals how shocked and horrified she was when she found out that the pregnant teen mom had been killed brutally. Around the time Marlen went missing she was actually lured into the house of a Chicago woman who wanted to raise Marlen's baby as her own after her son had died last year.  The 19-year-old mother was last seen leaving Latino Youth Alternative High School. The baby who is fighting death is not her only child, she also has a 3-year-old son who was not picked from daycare due to her disappearance.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the cause of death was ligature strangulation reported, PEOPLE. Three people have been taken into custody for committing this heinous crime. Cecilia Garcia revealed that Marlen got in touch with the suspects through a Facebook group for young mothers which give away baby clothes. "She was giving clothes away, supposedly under the pretense that her daughters had been given clothes and they had all these extra boy clothes. That’s the false pretenses that we believe led [Ochoa-Lopez] to that house," said Garcia.

The young mother's body was found in the trash can at the Figueroa's Chicago home. The suspects, Clarisa Figueroa, 46, and daughter, Desiree Figueroa, 24 were charged with first-degree murder and aggravated battery for the unfortunate event that took place on April 23. Clarisa Figueroa's 40-year-old boyfriend, Piotr Bobak was also arrested for keeping the information under wraps. CNN reports that the senior Figueroa's son Xander passed away last year when he was just 20 years old.

She then announced to her family in December that she was expecting which was a surprise as her fallopian tubes were tied, said attorney James Murphy. A few months later, she posted pictures of baby items like cribs, etc on Facebook, asking "Who is due in May" and "Where is the May mama's at." This was the advertisement that Marlen, the victim, had responded to as she was in need of a stroller and several other items present in the list. Unfortunately, they had something else in mind.

The police finally had a break in the case when a friend of the victim contacted them on May 7. The friend drew their attention towards the messages Marlen had shared with Figueroa following which she had disappeared.   When the police questioned Desiree Figueroa, she informed them that her mother was at the hospital and had recently given birth to a baby. On searching the premises they found her body. The suspicious detectives ran a DNA test which proved that it wasn't elder Figueroa's child.

Garcia, a member of the Lincoln United Methodist church said, "I felt like I was watching a scary movie when I heard about this. It was really bad." Furthermore, she added, "But she's (Marlen) evoked the whole nation of people, pouring their love out for this family. He's (Yovany Lopez) a single dad now, and we're praying this baby makes it." Marlen's husband Giovanni Lopez, said back fighting tears, "I have a lot of pain, a lot of anguish, a lot of sadness. I can’t anymore. It’s painful to lose your wife, the woman you love the most. It’s painful."
