A Walk To Remember? Longest Pedestrian Suspension Bridge In The U.S. Opens Next Month

The 'Gatlinburg Sky Bridge' is located in Tennessee and is set to be opened to the public on May 17 at 1pm.

Going on long walks is considered to be romantic and beautiful and at the same time, healthy. Well, if you love going for long walks then the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the United States is finally going to be opened. The 'Gatlinburg's Sky Bridge' which is located in Tennessee, will be opened on May 17 so here's another thing you can cross off your travel bucket list. The suspension bridge in Gatlinburg stretches 680 feet across a valley in the Great Smoky Mountains. So if you're afraid of heights you might just want to steer clear from this one.

It surely gives people an amazing experience as they can see the ground below while walking in the middle of the bridge. The bridge is part of Skylift Park, which features a chairlift that takes passengers up five hundred vertical feet from Gatlinburg to the top of Crockett Mountain. Once the bridge is opened to the public, visitors will be allowed to step off the lift at the top to walk across the bridge and enjoy the views. The chairlift will cost you $15 per adult and $12 per child.

Apparently, you can take your own sweet time while crossing the bridge. Whether you are in a hurry and need to get across the bridge quick because you need to meet someone or do something on the other side, or you're here for a power walk or just going on a nice long and romantic walk with your partner, it doesn't really matter, take as long as you please. One of the best things about the bridge is that it has a great view to offer and will give you the most Instagram-friendly pictures any bridge could ever offer.

The official website of the longest pedestrian bridge in the States reads, From the top of the Gatlinburg SkyLift, the SkyBridge quite literally crosses the sky as it stretches 680 feet across a deep valley. Guests will be able to walk across at their own pace, taking in the views and enjoying the spectacular setting before walking back when they're ready. With a height of 140 feet at its midpoint, the SkyBridge is an absolutely spectacular but easily attainable experience you'll remember for a lifetime - especially as you cross the glass-floor panels in the middle of the span. If there's one photo you'll want to share with family and friends after your trip to Gatlinburg, it will be of the SkyBridge.

The SkyBridge's developer claims it is the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in North America. However, there are people who strongly debate this claim. It really depends on whether you measure the bridge from one anchor to the other or whether you are measuring just the part of the bridge that is suspended. A pedestrian suspension bridge at Kelowna Mountain in Canada claims to be more than 800 feet long, so...longest? That's arguable.

It sure is a pretty long walk which will definitely tire you by the time you reach the other end. To take care of all of this, the company in charge of building the bridge has opened something called a Sky Deck. This cool area consists of a bar, restaurant, gift shop, and even seating areas in case you just want to sit and relax for a bit without having to pay for it. So book your tickets now and clear out your schedule for May 17 and get to Tennessee! The opening of the bridge will be held at 1 pm, so bear the heat because it is totally worth it. I'm sure the video below will tell you that it is!
