A northern Mexico resident braved the heatwave and witnessed a beautiful act of kindness at his local grocery store.
With summer temperatures rising to scorching degrees, it's important to show a little kindness to the animals in our lives. Adolfo Pazzi Ahumada observed this first hand a few days ago when he braved the 104°F weather to make a quick stop at his local market in northern Mexico. When he arrived, he was surprised to see a show of kindness unfold in front of him. “A stray dog was being fed and getting water from the store clerk,” Ahumada told The Dodo. “Then I saw they let the dog inside.”
On entering the store, Ahumada peeked down an aisle to see the content dog comfortably taking refuge from the heat on the store's cool tile floor. Curious, he asked the clerk about the dog. "He has been here the past few days. We suspect he was left behind by his owner. He came to us for help," the clerk told Ahumada, adding that the store employees had spent their own money to keep the overheated dog safe. "We could only provide him with food, water, and some toys from the store that we paid with our money," the kind clerk explained.
That's not all - the dog now has temporary shelter in the store, away from the heat. "We let him inside because the temperature outside is really hell-like. We feel bad for him, but he looks happier around the store," the clerk said, according to The Dodo. The dog is now popular with store clerks and customers alike, and the store hopes that a kind customer will decide to permanently adopt the abandoned dog so that it can have a new forever home. While Ahumada couldn't do that himself, he did buy the dog a treat to enjoy after his nap, pleased with the knowledge that the pup was in safe company until he could be rehomed. "I felt bad for what the dog has passed through," Ahumada said. "But he is now receiving the love he deserves."
