Kenny Rogers Had Found True Love In His 5th Wife Wanda Millers, Who Is 28 Years Younger

"I don’t know what and I don’t know why, but there was just something incredibly different about her from the minute I saw her," said Rogers, after the first time he saw Millers.

Kenny Rogers passed away at 81, on March 19, 2020, as we reported earlier. He is survived by his fifth wife Wanda and five children. He passed away on Friday night from natural causes under the care of hospice and surrounded by family. His publicist Keith Hagan said in a statement "Kenny Rogers left an indelible mark on the history of American music. His songs have been enjoyed  music lovers and touched the lives of millions around the world." Rogers, who has three Grammy's to his name, “passed away peacefully at home from natural causes under the care of hospice and surrounded by his family,” a representative said in a statement.

The family also took to Twitter to announce the news of his passing, adding that he was surrounded by his family. Given the current pandemic, his funeral is going to be a small affair, but a public memorial is being planned for a later date. When he retired in 2015, he said, "I've been so lucky to have enjoyed such a long career and to have such amazing support from my fans and all who have helped me along the way, but there comes a time when I need to focus on spending time with my family. My life is about my wife and my 11-year-old twin boys right now. There are a lot of things I want to do together with them to create some special memories."

"I don't have a bucket list of my own ... I have a bucket list of things I want to do with them." Daily Mail reports that the 81-year-old singer and 52-years-old Wanda Miller wed in 1997 and have remained together since. They have 14-year-old identical twin sons. Rogers and Miller have a 28-year-gap, but that never bothered them. However, their marriage was not always smooth-sailing. Rogers said that initially when they started dating Miller, her parents did not approve. He reportedly told Fox News, "Her parents are two years younger than me. They called me when we started dating and said, 'We want you to know we didn't appreciate what you're doing with our daughter'."

"I said, 'First of all I don't blame you. I don't think I would either but I will make you a promise. I will never lie to her and I will never lie to you.''  The two reportedly met while he was on a dinner date with another woman. It was Rogers' friend Charlie Minor who had introduced him to Miller. At the time, she was a hostess at the restaurant. CheatSheet reports that Rogers claims in his autobiography, Luck or Something Like It, "We both knew the food was great, but the relationship wasn’t going anywhere," He stated that he never felt a spark with his date. He wrote: [My date and I] had chosen a little Italian restaurant called Pricci and were in the middle of our “getting to know each other” banter when the hostess walked by our table.

"I’m honestly not sure she even looked at me, but I saw her. I don’t know what and I don’t know why, but there was just something incredibly different about her from the minute I saw her. She had a smile, not a hostess smile, but something more genuine, and believe it or not, it rocked me to my core." The woman was none other than Miller, who was 26 years old at the time. He took her out on a date soon, and after that, the rest was history. Rogers told Reuters that his commitment to his music career was why his previous marriages failed. "When I became driven and selfish I was so intent to follow my life that it cost me. I was gone so much from some of my marriages that there was a disconnect," he said.

"I blame myself and my chosen field of music. That's why I say that music is a mistress because you can't wait to get out there to it, and usually, the mistress wins in a situation like that. And this may seem like an absurd statement, but every woman I married, I really loved when I married her. And I don’t blame them for the marriage falling apart. That’s kind of what happened to me. Hey, you can’t say I’m afraid of commitment. I’ve been married five times.” As for finally finding The One, he said at the time, "Wanda and I have been together now for 20 years, been married 15 years. She’s 28 years younger than me, and I say this from the bottom of my heart - she is my soul mate. She knows me better than anyone else has known me. She loves what I do and I’m not as insensitive to her needs as I may have been in the past."
