"There were only like one or two times where I might have gotten a little hostile where I felt like people stepped over a boundary and they were disrespectful,” said the 47-year-old actress.
Insecurities are bound to creep into every marriage. Celebrity marriages have all the more reason to face insecurities because of the constant eyes on them, and stories about infidelity, which is something that comes with their job. Jada Pinkett Smith opened up about being insecure within her marriage to Will Smith, reports People. She spoke about women who had “stepped over a boundary” when it came to her husband, on Monday’s episode of her Facebook Watch show Red Table Talk. “There was only like one or two times where I might have gotten a little hostile where I felt like people stepped over a boundary and they were disrespectful,” 47-year-old Pinkett Smith said during a conversation with Ayesha Curry and her family.
She continued, “I know who I am. and more importantly, he knows who I am, right?” Adrienne Banfield Norris, Pinkett Smith’s mother, then said, “So the responsibility is more on the men.” Pinkett Smith agreed to that and added, “I think also you need to have an internal space of confidence. At the end of the day, that’s part of it.” Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have been married for 21 years, as of December 2018.
Marriages take a lot of work, and Pinkett Smith, in February, revealed how she and 50-year-old husband Will Smith kept their relationship strong. “Personally, in my journey, what I had to realize was that I had to find all the peace, love and joy within my heart in order to bring it to the table to share,” she said. “Will had to go away and find the peace, love, and joy in his heart to share.”

“So that’s what we share instead of our traumas from our childhood, all of our insecurities and fears that we usually come to the table within our relationships to have our partners fix,” she continued, according to People. She also spoke about the 'mentality' that was unhealthy and that was something that did not work in their relationship. “I need you to be this thing for me so that I don’t feel a certain way. And what I’m going to do is put so much pressure on you — and find really sneaky ways — to manipulate you so that you will always be the thing I need you to be so that I’m happy,” she said.
Will Smith also revealed what he considers to be the secret to maintaining a good marriage. “We’ve been married 20 years and we’ve been asking ourselves [what’s the secret to marriage] and really at the end of the day it’s just not quitting. You can’t expect it to be easy. It’s like our marriage was the most difficult, grueling, excruciating thing that we have ever taken on in our lives. And you know we’re just not quitters.”
According to Time, he added, "If there is a secret I would say is that we never went into working [on] our relationship. We only ever worked on ourselves individually, and then presented ourselves to one another better than we were previously." There were rumors of them having filed for divorce which forced Will Smith to respond. "Under normal circumstances, I don't usually respond to foolishness, his update read. Jada and I are...NOT GETTING A DIVORCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
