Even in times of need, you are being strong and that's something you should be proud of.
Being a strong person does not mean you're okay with being by yourself, but sadly that's exactly what other people think of you. Since they've only really seen your tough outer shell, they think there's nothing in the world that you can't handle. Never has it crossed their mind that you might need a shoulder to cry on or just someone to talk to because you get tired of being strong all the time. It's hard enough to be there for everyone you care about all the time, but it's worse when you realize that there's no one around you when you really need someone. No one likes feeling lonely, and even if you are the strongest person, this does not change the fact that you deserve love and attention, just like everyone else.
This does not mean that you are weak or not as strong as people thought you are, because this does not change anything. It is human nature to want and to be wanted and you are no exception. It's quite tiring to be in charge all the time and just keep taking care of everyone else except yourself. Have you ever wondered who would take care of you if you didn't do it yourself? It's okay to want someone to take care of you at times.
It's nothing to be ashamed of, to be held and to be cuddled. We yearn to be touched and just because you ask for it doesn't mean you're not strong. In fact, it means just the opposite because it takes a lot of courage to be vocal about what you need. Even in times of need, you are being strong and that's something you should be proud of. It's okay to let go of the fence you've built around you and let people in.
It's okay to just slow down and let yourself recharge. Otherwise, you will just fizzle out. Even the strongest person becomes weak because this strength is not something you were born with. You have built it through your life and you've faced several challenges on your own because no one was around to lend a helping hand. It's okay to ask for a little bit of help, especially if you feel like there's nothing to keep you going. Remember, just because you're asking for help, does not mean that you're not the strong woman everyone assumes you to be.Disclaimer : The views expressed in this article belong to the writer and are not necessarily shared by gomcgill.com
