Dmitry Ivchenko, 25, attacked the man's wife when she was walking to her apartment block at around 1 am.
After witnessing his wife being attacked a few yards from their home, a man from Ukraine reportedly chopped off the rapist's penis. The unfortunate thing is that the husband might be facing a longer sentence than the rapist himself if found guilty. The horrifying incident took place in Shevchenkovo, a village in the eastern Kharkiv region when the man's wife was heading home after leaving her friends at a restaurant reports Daily Mail. It was around 1 am when she started walking towards her home situated just 1,000 ft away from the restaurant. As she neared her apartment block, Dmitry Ivchenko, a 25-year-old rapist attacked her from behind. Police in the area say Ivchenko covered the victim's mouth to prevent her from screaming and dragged her into the bushes.

Husband cuts off rapist's penis after seeing his own wife being sexually assaulted near their home in Ukraine - and now faces a longer sentence than her attacker https://t.co/KJDsKGZOTe
The victim's husband, who was also at the restaurant, left 10 minutes after she did. On his way back, he heard noises coming from the bushes, and went to inspect. There he found Ivchenko holding his wife by her throat while raping her. That's when he threw a punch at him before grabbing his Swiss knife and chopping off his penis. The screams of the attacker and sobs of the victim woke up the residents of the area who at once arrived at the scene. The victim's mother was quick to report Ivchenko 's filthy actions to the police while the others called an ambulance for the attacker.
He is defending his wife's honor. Lord GOD that poor woman. She may now have a disease. ugh! What is wrong with the Ukraine?— RM4AMERICA🇺🇸wwg1wga (@Truth_Herald7) 17 October 2019
Speaking to local media, attorney Dmitry Spaskin said, "The husband lost the ability to control his actions. He did not understand what he was doing. After the incident, [the husband] was in a state of shock and just walked away. He walked about 13 kilometers and reached a neighboring village. There he met an acquaintance and asked to drive him to a police station. On October 13, at 7 am, he handed himself in to police and confessed in full." The husband has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm and is now under house arrest.

Recalling how he lost control, the husband said, "I cannot explain what happened to me at that moment." Following the incident, the rapist was rushed to Shevchenko District Hospital where he underwent surgery. The head of the hospital's surgical unit, Sergey Mitrakov, said, "The patient needs a long-lasting treatment." Medical experts at the hospital are yet to speculate on what the chances of reattaching the penis are. In addition to this, they aren't sure if the rapist would ever regain the complete functionality of his organ.
A very dangerous penis was removed from society. The man who removed the threat now faces a longer sentence than the threat?!— JulieQ6.0🌸🐸💕 (@cute_froggie) 17 October 2019
Ivchenko remains in hospital under police surveillance as they have launched a criminal case against him. Revealing the details of their findings, a spokeswoman for the Kupiansk Region Police Department, Snizhana Vodolazska, said, "The suspect caught up with his victim near her apartment block and raped her." Ivchenko, an unemployed, unmarried man, confessed that he had been dumped by his girlfriend just a week before he resorted to raping this woman, prosecutor Tetiana Vasileva said adding that he had drunk a liter of vodka on the day of the incident.
If this goes to a jury trial, I'm betting he is acquitted. I hope he doesn't take a plea deal.— Maple Sugar (@MapleSu83765869) 17 October 2019
As for the rapist, it is my hope he never regains the function of his severed rape tool.
Ironically, the victim's husband now faces a jail sentence of 8 years, if found guilty. On the other hand, Dmitry Ivchenko could be sentenced up to five years. However, several female residents in the area are now speaking up in support of the husband. Hanna Khaustova, a resident of the village said, "Ivchenko tried to hit on me but I told him to stop. Then he said, 'You will regret it.' I believe any girl from our village could have become his victim. If he had not done it the rapist would have continued to assault girls."
Wow. That’s real justice. He shouldn’t get any prison— lori Hantman Palumbo (@LoriHantman) 17 October 2019
