Body Language Experts Decode Lady Gaga And Bradley Cooper's Intimacy At The Oscars

Their chemistry was so obvious to everyone that body experts had to be called in to decipher what their chemistry meant.

There's no denying that Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga have some crazy chemistry, and it's excruciatingly visible to everyone. Their movie A Star Is Born gave us enough evidence, and if that was not enough, the recent performance at the Oscars can be taken into consideration. Because of their (very obvious) connection, everyone was speculating that there's something that's happening off-stage. Maybe Lady Gaga calling off her engagement with ex-beau Christian Carino had something to do with it. Even though these rumors are quite unfair to Cooper's girlfriend Irina Shayk. Also, how can we not mention the moment where everyone thought Gaga was going to plant a kiss on Cooper but backed out of it last minute?

Because of all these rumors that claimed Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga are so in love with each other, The Oprah Magazine called in a couple of body language experts to shed some light on the situation in hand. Were they merely faking it? Or are they actually in love? The first thing body language expert Patti Wood, author of Snap: Making the Most of First Impressions, Body Language, and Charisma noticed was how they never broke eye contact throughout the entire performance.

There's no denying this performance was completely choreographed, but Wood, the expert claims this mutual gaze was a “longing to touch” or a "pre-coitus" stare. "That’s why everybody went crazy watching it!" Well, that's also because everyone FELT IT even though they were nowhere near the two of them, but their vibe was so evident to everyone across the world. Blanca Cobb, MS Psy, body language expert, also agreed with Patti Wood.

Cob believes their chemistry was noticeable at the Oscars, as it was in the movie. "When they look at each other it’s as if they’re looking into each other’s souls," she says. "The song 'Shallow' sets the stage for their characters' romance. To take the chemistry from the big screen to the live performance at the Oscars requires them to get back in character. What makes their real-life chemistry even hotter than their characters, however, is that Cooper and Gaga’s friendship has sparks of attraction. Their interactions are tender, sweet," she explains.

"Their physical closeness and touches during their Oscars performance scream attraction," she added. If you've seen the video over, and over again, you definitely would not have missed the moment Lady Gaga clutched on to her womb, almost like she was taming the butterflies in her stomach. "The stomach touch showed that Gaga felt a moment of vulnerability. Almost as if to calm the proverbial 'butterflies in your stomach,'" Cobb says. Yep, really hard to miss that!

Having said all of this, the two of them are exceptional actors and their acting was top notch, which is why the movie was even nominated under the Best Picture category. You can fake love, you can fake affection, to an extent, but you really can't fake chemistry. And you really can turn it up for the cameras. "To determine if they’ll turn into a real-life love story, you’re better off watching their interactions when they’re not on-camera," Cobb shares.

The way Cooper grabbed on to Gaga's hand after the performance also means something. "In multiple photos and joint appearances, Cooper and Gaga are not only vocal about their friendship and fondness for each other but also they tend to show this closeness through touch. Here, their hands are clasped in a less-romantic way, as indicated by the fact their palms are touching without their fingers interlacing like a parent would lead a child," explains Cobb.

There was another moment where Cooper put his arm around him and brought her close when they felt there weren't too many eyes on them, which suggests they could be more than 'just buds'. Another instance, where Gaga and Cooper were seated on either side of Irina, but Cooper seemed to be more into Gaga than Irina. "They're more attuned to each other than Cooper and Shayk. When your bodies are attuned, you’re emotionally attuned as well. They're leaning forward and laughing, enjoying the moment. Shayk, on the other hand, is leaning back in her seat wearing a smile with her hands folded in her lap," noticed Cobb.

You can't rule out the possibility that Irina was merely letting Cooper and Gaga have their Oscar moment. It is of course entirely possible that their relationship is platonic, respectful and they just happen to share an intense physical chemistry. Even with all the suggestive body language, they could just be really great friends, and all of this is Cooper just being protective of his best bud. For now, that's all we know, and all we can do is wait to see what really happens.
