Despite the concerns expressed by her sons and relatives, Iris Jones was adamant that Mohamed Ahmed is not after her money.
An 80-year-old woman has tied the knot with her Egyptian lover shortly after appearing on the British daytime television program This Morning and sharing the graphic details of her newly summoned sex life. Iris Jones, a resident of Somerset, met her now-husband Mohamed Ahmed, 35, on Facebook last year and instantly fell for him. The smitten pensioner even flew to Egypt just to be with her beau and described in detail their first night of passion while speaking to hosts Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield earlier this year. The explicit details left both Schofield and Willoughby blushing as they struggled to maintain their composure.
The pair first began talking in summer last year on a Facebook group that was exploring atheism. As their conversations continued, Cairo native Mohamed was the one who declared his love for the British grandmother on social media. According to Daily Mail, Mohamed said his feeling for Iris was confirmed after he saw her at Cairo airport last November for the first time. Recalling the beautiful moment, he told Mail Online, "I was very nervous but the moment I laid eyes on her I knew that it was true love. I’m a very lucky man to have found a woman like this." The 35-year-old welding inspector later gave up his job to spend time with his beloved Iris after she flew to Cairo.
Furthermore, Mohamed revealed that he took Iris home for dinner during her visit to Egypt so she could spend some time with his mother. "My mother really liked Iris and they got on well even though there was a language problem. But my mother said to me that if I’m happy, then she’s happy. That’s all any mother wants; for her son to be with a woman he really loves," he said. Earlier this year, the couple's romance rose to prominence after Iris appeared on ITV's This Morning and spoke about the huge age gap between them and ended up revealed more about their sex life. "The first night was pretty rough," said the woman as hosts Willoughby and Schofield collapsed in giggles after being caught unprepared by how forthcoming Iris would be.
"Nobody had been near me for 35 years... I thought I was a virgin again!" she said as 57-year-old Schofield held her hand. "Can I tell you what we used? A whole tube of KY jelly. The thing is I couldn't walk the next day... I felt like I was riding a horse! Saddle sore wasn't in it. Anyway, we got over it," she continued as a flustered Willoughby could no longer control herself. On a more serious note, the hosts asked how she knew that this was not some scam and that Mohamed actually loved her. The elderly woman explained that everyone in her family, including her sons and friends, tried to warn about it, but she knew in her heart that Mohamed was quite genuine from the conversations they had.
The doubts about the legitimacy of his love arose from the fact that the man lived in a three-room house with his parents, two younger sisters, and a brother. Meanwhile, Iris, a former cleaner, resides in a £220,000 bungalow and lives on a £200-a-week pension and disability benefit. Despite these obvious signs, Mohamed vehemently insisted that he was not with the woman for her money or to get a British passport. "I don’t care where we live or how rich or poor she is, I just want to be with Iris. At the end of the day, which country she wants to make her home is her choice; it can be either Britain or Egypt. People think I am with her for all the wrong reasons. I know Britain is a beautiful country and a lot of people want to go there but I’m not bothered. I'm prepared to live with her anywhere in the world," he said.
Earlier this year he said that his love for Iris was real. "It might seem a bit strange having a wife who is 20 years older than your mother but that’s love. It makes you blind," he said. "When you are a man and you fall in love with a woman, it doesn’t matter how old she is or what she looks like." Iris, who divorced her husband over 40 years ago, managed to save up enough so she could fly back to Egypt and marry Mohamed who lives in Giza. After marrying her, Mohamed revealed, "I do not want a nationality nor do I want money, I am comfortable like this and I work, praise be to God, with my money," according to Al-Watan news. Iris has reportedly converted to Islam following their wedding in Egypt.
