Former 'Criminal Minds' Star Shemar Moore Shares Emotional Tribute Mourning Mother's Death

Former Criminal Minds star Shemar Moore recently lost his mother and has been in mourning. Moore took to Instagram to share the sad news of his mother's passing in a series of videos where he looks visibly shaken by the loss. His mother, Marilyn Joan Wilson-Moore, passed away on February 8 at the age of 76. The cause of her death is still unknown. In the teary videos, Moore pays tribute to the life and memory of his mother.


"My mother, best friend, and partner in crime passed away," he wrote in the caption. "I miss her more than I ever thought possible and I don’t know how to do this life without her. I get my STRENGTH from her and I will be OK because of HER." He continues, "Mama…here come that man!!!!! What I do from this day forward is for YOU!!!! I’m going to continue to LEAP and pray that the NET appears!! It was too soon…and it hurts so bad…but I know you are with me and will continue to give me strength…I love you mama." In the video, Moore clarifies that the reason he had been offline for a few weeks was because of his mother's passing, and had decided to keep to himself out of respect for her.


He admits in the video that he is "hurting real bad" and goes on to say, "To my homies, my fans and my baby girls, I'm not famous, I'm not Hondo, I ain't s*** without this woman. I'm just a man, and I'm gonna miss my mama for the rest of my life." As he chokes back tears, he holds up a picture of his mother and says, "Everything I am. Everything I have accomplished is because of this amazing woman." He goes on to say that he is not exploiting the death of his mother on social media, "This is my everything, this is my mother," he says, stating that his fans knew her from afar. "I'm not famous without her, then I made her famous," adds the grieving star. 


"She was tired," Moore said. Although the cause for her death is unknown and the 49-year-old actor stated that she had heart issues and added that she also suffered from multiple sclerosis (MS). He spoke to PEOPLE in 2015 about his mother's MS diagnosis and said, "I just had to check myself and say, ‘Listen, she’s scared and asking for help, so let’s help her turn in the right direction.’" He added, "My love for my mom is real and I want her to beat this damn thing. She’s my Super Woman and she needs to know that someone is out there fighting for her at all times."


Talking about bouncing back from the irreplaceable loss he was suffering he said, "I'm down. But you damn right I will get up. My mama was stronger than I will ever know how to be and if I didn't get up, I would disappoint her." In another Instagram post, Moore shared a montage of pictures and videos of him with his mother over the years to the music of "Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion. In the caption, he wrote, "My Mama always said “I was at the front of the line when God was handing out sons” .... and I always said, “Mama, you know I cut the line to get to you!” I love you mama."
