Actor Cameron Boyce, who was well known for his roles in the Disney Channel's television shows and series, has died at age 20, reports CNN. A family spokesperson said that Boyce died in his sleep due to a seizure resulting from an ongoing medical condition. "It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron. He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated," said the spokesperson.
"The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him. We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother," said the family in a statement. Boyce was known for his role in the TV show Jessie.
"From a young age, Cameron Boyce dreamed of sharing his extraordinary artistic talents with the world," said a Disney Channel spokesperson, "He was an incredibly talented performer, a remarkably caring and thoughtful person and, above all else, he was a loving and dedicated son, brother, grandson and friend. We offer our deepest condolences to his family, castmates, and colleagues and join his many millions of fans in grieving his untimely passing. He will be dearly missed."
Several celebrities took to social media to post messages about Cameron after the news of his passing was out through media. Kevin Chamberlin wrote: Our “Jessie” family has been devastated by the sad and untimely passing of our beloved Cameron Boyce. He always lit up a room when he entered-he was an extraordinarily talented actor, a selfless advocate with his charity work, and a loyal friend. Our hearts are heavy with sadness.
Charlie Puth added: I did not know Cameron Boyce personally, but it looks like he was someone who exuded wonderful, positive feelings and was a role model to many. Let his legacy live on and inspire millions more to carry themselves in the same way. He will be missed, but will still always be here.
Actor and model Antonio Sabato Jr., who worked with Boyce on the ABC soap opera General Hospital, also took to Twitter to express his grief.: Rest In Peace Cameron Boyce, it was an honor to have worked with you and spend our time together.
