Debra Messing Repeatedly Called Trump "Pedophile" & "Rapist," Where Was Twitter's Fact Check?

The Will & Grace actress has been constantly posting smears like #TrumpIsARapist and #TrumpisaPedo.

Actress Debra Messing recently condemned President Donald Trump by calling him a "rapist" and a "pedophile" on Twitter. It is not the first time that the Will & Grace actress called out Trump as she has been repeatedly posting smears like #TrumpIsARapist and #TrumpisaPedo, which seems like an attempt to get these hashtags to trend on the social media platform. But the point social media giants did not fact-check Messing's tweets has outraged many. Twitter has been strictly monitoring President Trump's tweets for some time now by not only fact-checking but also blocking a few of them claiming that the POTUS was spreading misleading information about election rules.

Meanwhile, Messing has been regularly putting up anti-Trump posts on social media and her latest tweet has been the most aggressive ones yet. But Twitter didn't seem to crack down on the actress, who boasts more than 653,000 followers on Twitter, and neither did they do anything about Democratic Party operative Jon Cooper's post (that Messing retweeted) that claimed Trump raped and sexually assaulted "young women" and that he is a pedophile. Later, she posted more tweets with the hashtags #TrumpIsARapist and #TrumpIsAPedo.

Last year, Trump took a shot at Messing after she called for the list of donors attending a Beverly Hills fundraiser to be publicized. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Trump was slated to attend the fundraiser on September 17 which was supposedly an effort to get re-elected in the 2020 Presidential race. Messing expressed her outrage over the Hollywood fundraiser and demanded, Please print a list of all attendees, please. The public has a right to know. Her sentiments were echoed by former co-star Eric McCormack, who tweeted that The Hollywood Reporter should "kindly report on everyone attending this event, so the rest of us can be clear about who we don’t wanna work with. Thx."

In retaliation, Trump posted a tweet where, he claimed that the 52-year-old had previously thanked him following the success of the NBC show, The Apprentice, and noted how times had changed. I have not forgotten that when it was announced that I was going to do The Apprentice, and when it then became a big hit, helping NBC’s failed lineup greatly, @DebraMessing came up to me at an Upfront & profusely thanked me, even calling me “Sir.” How times have changed! wrote Trump at the time according to The Hill. In a follow-up tweet, Messing urged the President to take action on the prevailing gun legislation and assured she would call him "sir" if he did something about it.

Now that I know I have your attention @realDonaldTrump, please read this thread— a PARTIAL list of souls lost to preventable, devastating gun violence. America wants universal background checks. The majority of Americans want assault weapons ban. Take Action and I’ll call you Sir, she wrote at the time. Previously, Messing was given a fact-check by Twitter after she was reported her for posting a doctored photograph of Adolf Hitler to criticize President Donald Trump, reports Snopes. The actress had uploaded a picture of Hitler and Trump holding a Bible (in front of St. John's Church) to point at the resemblance but Twitter acknowledged that Hitler's picture was altered and that the original one does not show him holding a Bible.

A dog whistle to white nationalists and Nazis, the actress wrote at the time. The since-deleted tweet now has a "Manipulated Media" link which directs users to another page and explains why the picture uploaded by Messing is fake. It was concluded by Buzzfeed and Snopes that the image of Hitler holding a bible was edited and used beside one of Trump to draw parallels. Earlier this year Twitter announced that they would be removing any media that is "synthetic or manipulated" and is "likely to cause harm." However many have claimed that the social media giant is only trying the curb the circulation of some memes that could influence the 2020 elections.
