The reason for his actions remains a mystery, but the poor girl couldn't be saved despite first responders performing CPR.
Trigger Warning: This article contains details of child abuse that readers may find disturbing
It is always disturbing to read about crimes, especially those involving death. They are heartbreaking, more so when a child is involved. A 38-year-old man in Ohio was formally charged with accidental homicide last week for allegedly causing the death of his two-month-old child by stuffing her mouth with a baby wipe, Metro reported. Emergency responders in Columbus, Ohio, responded to a distress call around 4 AM a few days before Thanksgiving last year. The 911 call was made for a little girl who allegedly stopped breathing at home. Firefighters and medics who arrived at the place performed CPR but could not save the girl who was later pronounced dead at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

Autopsy reports suggested that the little child had died from choking on a baby wipe. Police arrested the father, Christopher Ledoux, and began investigating the case as a homicide, but could not find much evidence to prosecute him under those charges. Ledoux was indicted on one count of reckless homicide and is currently in Fairfield County jail awaiting his arraignment. Reckless homicide is treated like third-degree murder in the state, and prosecutors filed the charges based on his record. It was also reported that the child's sibling, who was in the house at the time was unharmed, but was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.
I really wish I wouldn't have read that. 😣— Sheri Locascio 🐾🌺🌷🇺🇸 (@SheriLoCascio) March 27, 2021
Ledoux, who has had addiction issues, had a prior felony from 2012 related to drug possession which “could affect court appearances,” Metro cited online publication Law & Crime. Third-degree crimes in Ohio have a maximum sentence of up to 5 years in prison. Prosecutors also filed for tight bail conditions owing to the nature of the crime and his history. They demanded that Ledoux be granted bail only after filing a $50,000 cash or surety bond or a $5,000 bond plus $25,000 as well as personal recognizance conditions. Hearing in the case began on Monday, with Ohio attorney Samuel Shamansky representing Ledoux as defense counsel. The father had turned himself in to the police.
Crimes against children are tragic. He should never get out of prison.— RealAuntNancy🇺🇸 (@RealAunt) March 28, 2021
People couldn't believe a father had done this to his own daughter and took to Facebook to express their grief. Julie Ann Burdett wrote: There are no words for someone that kills a poor defenseless baby! Just thinking of what you did makes me feel like I’m gasping for air! You sick sick man! NO baby is better off in heaven!! Megan Seehafer added: A maximum of 5 years in state prison?! Are you serious? He intentionally killed his 2-month-old daughter. It should be a minimum of life. That poor baby did not ask to be in that situation, did not ask her dad to kill her. Teresa Ortiz added: Put him in a room for 5 minutes with the child's loved ones.
Don’t worry. There are many worse things awaiting him which are to be shoved into HIS mouth—AFTER he moves into his new jail cell....and that’s not the only opening...and it won’t happen just once either. Sorry. I have no compassion for someone who could do that to a little baby.— Patriot🇺🇸Puppy🐕Power (@EliashibMadison) March 29, 2021
In another incident, a mother beheaded her five-year-old daughter just because she asked for some cereal. The incident took place on January 5, 2017, in Hays County, Texas. Hays County deputies were called to her home where they discovered that Villanueva had viciously stabbed and murdered her daughter. The child's grandfather, Eustorgio Arellano, called 911 and informed officials that she had attacked him from behind without any warning. She had stabbed him both in the back and the head. He managed to flee from the household but told deputies that his granddaughter was still inside the house with mom Villanueva.

Due to how dangerous the circumstances were, SWAT teams and negotiators were called in, just in case they had to handle a potential hostage situation. However, Villanueva had also called 911. She informed emergency responders that she had killed her daughter because “she asked for cereal." Eventually, investigators were able to make it inside her home and survey the household. The investigators found the mother freshly showered and nude in the front room. Meanwhile, her daughter was in the bedroom, where she was found "stabbed to death and decapitated." Villanueva was later found with traces of alcohol as well as marijuana in her system. You can read more about it here.
