Along with Burnett and Newhart, Lily Tomlin and Carl Reiner were a part of the PSA for The Grey Muzzle Organization.
Like any stage of our life, growing up has its ups and downs, and Lily Tomlin, Bob Newhart, Carl Reiner, and Carol Burnett would agree. The four actors got together to speak about senior life to raise awareness for senior dogs, because “growing old is not a death sentence,” as Newhart puts it, but unfortunately for many senior dogs it is. “Many older dogs are surrendered to shelters because their owners have passed away or couldn’t afford their care,” Burnett says in the PSA for The Grey Muzzle Organization.

“And for some of them there are no more options,” Newhart continues. The four celebrities have come together to support The Grey Muzzle Organization, an animal welfare organization that provides grants to animal rescue and shelters dedicated to caring for senior pets. They hope that they can help these animals by providing them with what they need and also trying to help them find their forever home, with people who will love and cherish them, irrespective of their age.

This organization's support also enables more shelters to take in older animals, provide them with the medical aid they need and also help find their forever homes. “When you support Grey Muzzle, you’re giving senior dogs the most precious gift of all…” Carl Reiner begins. Lily Tomlin continues, “The chance to live out their final years, months or days with dignity, grace and a happy smile on their face.”

“Thanks to these legendary stars, more people will learn about at-risk senior dogs and how donating to Grey Muzzle saves and improves the lives of old dogs nationwide,” says Grey Muzzle’s executive director Lisa Lunghofer. Grey Muzzle also expressed their gratitude to the "team of dog-loving production professionals who donated their time and talent to create this PSA: Produced and concept by Michael Levitt; Gary Tellalian, director/writer; Tisha Fein, talent producer; and Haydon Lane, director of photography/editor."
Exactly... growing old is a blessing. I embrace each year of life, as I blossom and grow beautifully. 🌹❤️— Paula (@jackqui53) December 21, 2019
“Because of their creativity, hard work and support, more people will open their hearts and homes to older dogs,” adds Lisa Lunghofer. As Lily Tomlin urges in the PSA, “Go out and adopt a senior dog. They are amazing! And they will be so grateful.” If you've ever wanted to help out and get some love in return, now's the time to adopt a senior dog. They are gentle and kind and well-trained (well, almost always). You just have to give them love, and they will love you thrice as much till their last breath.
