Bride Cancels Wedding After Guests Refuse To Pay $1,500 Each To Fund Her Big Day

A Canadian bride was forced to call of her wedding as her guests did not pay for the extravagant wedding she had dreamed of.

Having the wedding of your dream can be a rather expensive affair. Wanting to celebrate your big day extravagantly is definitely not a bad thing, however, it becomes a problem when you cannot afford it. In situations like these people generally opt for a budget-friendly option, while hiding their disappointment. But one bride could not bear the thought of not having her fairy tale wedding and decided to seek help from her guests. Although it is quite natural to share your special day with close friends and family, is it okay to ask them to pay for your big day?

Unlike most bride-to-be, this one wanted her guests to fund her ceremony by handing the couple money instead of gifts. The woman who is only known as "Susan" informed her guests that those willing to take part in this celebration have to shell out a particular amount of money and those who weren't ready to comply with the said "reasonable request" was asked not to come. Soon she realized that not many were in favor of this idea, and due to insufficient funds she decided to cancel the wedding instead of settling for something smaller.

The bridezilla went as far as to send each one of her guests an apology letter holding them responsible for her broken engagement. Mirror Online reported how Susan forwarded a harsh note to all her friends and family informing them about the cancellation of her wedding just four days before the big day. "Dear friends, it comes with great sadness that I am announcing the cancellation of the (redacted) wedding. I apologize for canceling only four days beforehand," read the letter (which was taken down in a few minutes after being posted). Furthermore, the letter stated that the bride and groom "have broken up due to some recent and irreparable problems" and so she had to call off her fairy tale wedding because her guests refused to pay a sum of $1,500 each as a gift.

According to the note, the couple had managed to save up an amount of $15,000 for their big day but the dream wedding that the Canadian bride was looking forward to costed around $60,000. In order to realize her dreams, she decided to seek help from her guests for her "extravagant blow out wedding." However, things didn't really go as she had hoped for. "I specifically, I mean specifically asked for cash gifts. How could we have our wedding that we dreamed of without proper funding? We'd sacrificed so much and only asked each guest for around $1,500," wrote the bride in a message, the screenshots of which was later posted on Mumsnet

Justifying the reasonable nature of her demand Susan continued, "So our request for $1,500 for all other guests was not f*****g out of the ordinary. Like, we made it clear. If you couldn't contribute, you weren't invited to our exclusive wedding. It's once and a lifetime party. After sending out the invitations, only eight guests RSVP'd with their check of $1,500. We were f*****g livid." She then explained how her ex's family offered to pay an amount of $3,000 while her maid of honor promised her a sum of $5,000 in addition to her with her planning services. Unfortunately, as they were nearing the wedding date, her in-laws backed out. Even her best friend (maid of honor) retracted her promised offer.

Things got worse when her fiancé suggested a simple Vegas wedding, however, the stubborn bride was not ready to let go of her Kardashian dreams. After a heated argument, the already fed up groom called her a "stuck up b***h" and broke all ties with her. This post didn't take long to catch fire on social platforms. While some ridiculed the bride for her exorbitant demands, others questioned whether the whole story was indeed real or not. Finally, a woman who claimed to be the bride's cousin revealed that it was all true. She also shared some information about Susan's entitled behavior and shared how the spendthrift bride couldn't help but idolize the Kardashians and envy their life.
