It's heartbreaking to know that people are still unsafe if they walk the streets late at night, especially when they are all by themselves. According to a recent report, a 26-year-old woman became the recent victim of a predator who tried to take advantage of her when she walking along a street in Australia. Shockingly, it was a 14-year-old boy who was charged with the alleged sexual assault of the woman in Cairns City Queensland. The terrifying incident unfolded on Saturday morning at around 1:45 a.m. when the victim was walking along McLeod Street.
Officers in the area say that the teen grabbed the 26-year-old when she was walking by herself, reports 7 News. They alleged that the suspect assaulted the victim and didn't stop even as the woman kept struggling and screaming. Motorists, who happened to pass by that street around the time, heard the woman's cries for help and came to her rescue, revealed investigators. They alerted the authorities about the incident but the suspect had already fled the scene by then. Hoping to track down the alleged assaulter, police reviewed the CCTV footage of the crime, and following this they conducted targeted patrol.
"After reviewing CCTV of the alleged offense detectives conducted targeted patrols and identified the boy," read the statement from the Queensland Police Department. By Monday morning, they located the teen and placed him under arrest. The boy has been charged with assault with intent to rape, attempted rape, and sexual assault and is set to appear before the Cairns Children’s Court soon. Unfortunately, we have witnessed such crime more often than not. Back in May, this year a 24-year-old man and a teen girl were taken into custody after they were involved in critically injuring an elderly woman who was found lying in the bushes, partially naked near a parking lot in Tustin.
On May 1, at around 10:30 a.m. officers from the Tustin police department arrived near the 600 Block of West 6th Street after receiving a call about a partially naked woman, lying unresponsive in the bushes, explained Tustin Lt. Andrew Birozy. There were serious injuries inflicted on the 75-year-old lady's face and she had to be rushed to a nearby hospital the same day, reports Mercury News. Officers said that the woman remained in critical condition for at least three days. An investigation was launched and officers found that the woman lived nearby. According to Birozy, the old lady was found in the deplorable state close to where her car had been parked.

Following this, investigators determined that the victim had been assaulted at around 8 p.m. the night before she was found. The next day, May 2, at around 2:40 pm. officers were able to locate the victim's car. It was being driven by a person with two other people inside the vehicle and all three of them were taken in custody, revealed police. One of the occupants of the car was 24-year-old Fernando Valdovinos of Santa Ana who was suspected of hitting the woman in her face multiple times with his hands before sexually assaulting her. Then he left the victim to die and took off with her car. A 16-year-old female acquaintance of Valdovinos was also arrested as officers believed that she helped him carry out the crime to some extent.
Police later determined that the third person in the car had no involvement in the heinous crime and thus released him. Valdovinos, who had previously been on formal probation for auto theft, was charged with attempted murder, attempted rape, carjacking, elder abuse and other sexual-related crimes. As for the teenage girl, she was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy and carjacking. The 16-year-old, who had been on formal probation for robbery, reportedly did not participate in the assault but was nearby at the time. She was booked into the Orange County Juvenile Hall.
