She's 'Shown Me the Meaning of Love': Ben Affleck Honors Ex-Wife Jennifer Garner On Mother's Day

Affleck shared a sweet tribute to Garner, the mother of his three children, and his own mom, Christine, on Instagram.

Not all separations have to be sour, and Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are an example of that. Even though they've been separated, Ben has nothing but love and respect for his ex-wife. According to People, in honor of Mother's day, Affleck shared a sweet tribute to Garner, the mother of his three children, and his own mom, Christine, on Instagram. Happy Mother’s Day to the two incredible mothers who have shown me the meaning of love, he wrote, alongside a shot of Garner and Christine walking outside together. He also added a childhood photo of him with his mom as a little boy.

Jennifer Garner and his mom just looked so happy and comfortable in one another's presence. Affleck, 46, and Garner, 47, share daughters Violet Anne, 13, and Seraphina Rose Elizabeth, 10, and son Samuel Garner, 7. In his post, he also mentioned that he would be making donations to two organizations,  Cut50’s Dignity for Incarcerated Woman campaign, and National Bail Out,  in their honor.

Today I am making donations to two organizations in their honor: @cut50’s #DignityForIncarceratedWomencampaign, a national initiative to help reduce the prison population while making our communities safer, and @NationalBailout, an incredible organization that works with groups all over the country on Mother’s Day to bail out black moms and caregivers, provide supportive services and fellowship opportunities to help end money bail and pretrial detention.

Cut50's Instagram handle responded to Affleck's post: Thank you, Ben, for your generous support this #MothersDay. These funds will help uplift the voices of formerly incarcerated women who are making meaningful changes to culture and policy for our sisters, daughters, mothers, and grandmothers behind bars. A user named tropicanavamp commented:  Aww so sweet! I wish you and Jennifer would get back in the end. Lol. That would be nice, wouldn't it? Another user named gothamgeordie said: You are such a kind and generous human being Ben and your work with those charities and people who need your help inspires us all. Have a blessed Mother’s Day.

Recently, Garner revealed her mother's day traditions with her kids. “All my kids sit on my lap every Mother’s Day [for a photo],” says the actress, 47, to People. “But they’re getting bigger and it’s hilarious," she added. “It used to be that [Samuel Garner, 7, Seraphina Rose Elizabeth, 10, and Violet Anne, 13, her children with ex Ben Affleck] could fit, and now we just have to stack them and it’s a disaster,” she shares with a laugh.

But the kids still enjoy it, says Garner: “They’re like, ‘Mom when we’re 24, 21 and 18, we are sitting on your lap.’ And I’m like, ‘Great, I’ll keep my bone density up. That’s my part in this equation.’" Affleck and Garner got married in 2005. They were together for 12 years and later separated in 2017. Their split was finalized only in October 2018, and a source told People that they would remain together for the sake of their kids.

“Jen and Ben continue to work together to make their parenting as seamless as possible,” the source said. “They really like to do things as a family, be it outings, church, cooking or watching movies. They have both had some ups and downs this year, and they seem to be in a good place,” the friend adds. Even if they're together no more, they will always want the best for each other, always.  “Ben will always want the best for Jen,” the insider said. “They continue to have a really strong relationship and both work very hard to make everything easy for the kids. She has always been supportive of him.”
