A babysitter in Las Vegas has been accused of ruthlessly kicking and beating a helpless 5-year-old boy to death just because the child had urinated his pants. The young boy, identified as Ryan Peralto, passed away in the hospital on March 12, a day after being subjected to severe injuries, including brain hemorrhage, a fractured skull, damage to his liver, spleen, intestines, and pancreas. He sustained the damage while in the care of his 22-year-old babysitter, Lauren J. Courtney, reports KLAS. Initially, Courtney was arrested for child abuse or neglect with substantial bodily harm charges. However, after Ryan's death was ruled a homicide by the Clark County coroner’s office, prosecutors charged Courtney with first-degree murder.

According to an arrest report, officers were called to the Peralto residence situated in the 5100 block of South Jones Boulevard on March 11 when Tyan became unresponsive. His father, Kaisaa Peralto, told officers that Courtney had called him up while he was at work earlier that day saying that his son "was apparently not doing good and coughed up blood." Courtney's cruel act was captured on surveillance cameras which were installed by the boy's father inside their home after his 7-year-old day alerted him about their babysitter hurting her brother. So when he was informed about his son's deteriorating health, Kaisaa immediately reviewed the footage from the cameras inside his home using an app on his phone.

He was crushed to see that his son was lying motionless on the couch. When he arrived home with his wife, the babysitter reportedly left and went to a McDonald's to pick up some food for herself and her boyfriend. Meanwhile, Ryan was rushed to the University Medical Center, where he was diagnosed with severe internal injuries. Tragically he succumbed to the wounds the following day. Following an autopsy, it was revealed that Ryan had died from blunt force trauma to the head, abdomen, and chest. Thus, Courtney was brought in for interrogation and during the interview, the self-proclaimed "entertainer" allegedly admitted that she inflicted some of the wounds on the child out of frustration.

Courtney, who had been babysitting the two children since August, said she lost her temper after Ryan came to her and revealed that he had urinated his pants. [Courtney] stated this is a continual problem and she is tired of having to clean up after him multiple times, week after week," read the report. "According to [Courtney], when Ryan urinated himself today, that was the final straw that triggered her anger." While she denied any wrongdoings in the beginning, she eventually admitted to having allegedly shoved the young boy harder than she should have which resulted in him hitting his head on the floor.

The suspect said that she may have "blacked out" during the incident as she could not remember how the boy ended up in the bathroom. According to News3LV, the babysitter was quoted saying that she dragged the boy from the bathroom and brought him all the way to the living room before popping him in the mouth. While authorities did not release the harrowing footage of the attack, they did reveal that the boy was slapped, kicked, punched, and berated by Courtney for 2 minutes. "Officers observed [Courtney] pulling Ryan by one arm through the doorway of the bathroom," states the report. "Lauren (sic) states 'I know you are faking it.' [Courtney] is observed kicking Ryan in the face with her foot, punching his face, and slap his chest. [Courtney] then takes off Ryan’s underwear and drags him into the shower."

In the video, the boy does not respond even as he was being kicked. Courtney then strikes him several times and screams at him, before letting him fall and hit his head. Towards the end of the footage, the boy is heard crying and moaning in pain, but Courtney simply turns on the shower and leaves, reports Daily Mail. Apparently, she showed no emotions when told that the boy may not survive, according to the police. Although it's unclear, Courtney claimed that she was suffering from mental health issues. She is currently being held at the county jail without bail and is due back in court on May 18.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the Peralto family organize a funeral for their late son.
