French bulldog was roughly two years old and had just given birth to a litter. Police yet to receive any information on the heinous crime
A French bulldog was killed brutally after she was tied to the back of a car and forced to run along until she couldn’t keep and was dragged to her death. The incident happened in Liverpool and has been taken up by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA). Joanne McDonald, the inspector in charge of the investigation said the dog must have "suffered horrendously" and described the act as “barbaric and cruel". RSPCA said the bulldog looked like she had just given birth to a litter of puppies. The dog had a collar but the pet’s owners are yet to be identified but the police are hoping it will help them find those behind the atrocious crime, as per a report by the Mirror.
The bulldog, roughly aged 2, was found dead in the early hours of June 17 and was still tied to a long piece of wire in Liverpool. The RSPCA inspectors began investigations into the matter shortly after. RSPCA has requested people who have any information on the matter to come forward in order to help them to catch those behind the heinous crime. The local police authorities have also been notified of the issue and working in tandem with the RSPCA on the case. The cops are also looking at CCTV footage from areas around where the dog was found, in order to zero in on the people behind the act, or even to locate the time and place the dog was killed.
RSPCA medical team, on analyzing the dog’s body confirmed that the dog had tried keeping up with the vehicle until the speed was too much for her and the helpless animal collapsed and was dragged till she died. Inspector McDonald who met the press said the skin on her feet had peeled off suggesting she had tried to run and keep up with the vehicle. She also said the injuries on her body made it evident that the dog was dragged for a considerable distance after it couldn’t run anymore. "I believe someone has tied the dog to a vehicle and then drove along dragging this poor pet to her death," said Joanne McDonald.
The collar of the pet dog was found on her head showing the helpless dog had been pulled along the road. One end of the wire was found broken suggesting the heartless thugs didn’t let up the dog but continued driving until the wire attached to the vehicle snapped.
Joanne McDonald urged people to help with the investigation, “I really want to find who did this and am hoping the public may be able to help provide me with the information I need. I am appealing for anyone who may have seen this incident take place to come forward as they may have vital information which could identify who did this.”
The inspector believes finding information on the dog’s owners could help zero in on the thugs behind the heinous act, “I am also keen to identify the dog's owner and am hoping someone will recognize the dog and be able to provide me with this information."
"This is the most barbaric and cruel act - this poor young dog must have been terrified and suffered horrendously during this horrific incident," concluded McDonald. She said the dog was microchipped but provided no information as the software of the device was not updated. Facebook users were horrified by the posts and graphic images of the dog with one user writing: People are so sick...what a terrible death for that poor baby! Go frolic over the rainbow bridge where you'll never have to suffer again at the hands of man. Not all people are bad, angel! Another user wrote: Cruelty of the first degree, some people have no kindness for anything or anyone shocking.
