Cat Frozen In Snow And Minutes Away From Death Miraculously Survives To Tell The Tale

Cat Frozen In Snow And Minutes Away From Death Miraculously Survives To Tell The Tale

The cold chill overwhelmed the tiny little soul, and as she lay shivering in the yard, waiting for help, she was covered by layers of snow.

Fluffy the cat was in trouble. Very grave trouble. As the temperatures outside dipped to alarming lows, she found himself away from the comforts of his home. While we aren't sure why she had stepped out of her home in Montana, we do know that she did manage to injure herself and was unable to get back inside the house. And as she lay injured, the cold chill overwhelmed the tiny little soul, and as she lay shivering in the yard, waiting for help, she was covered by layers of snow. When her owners finally found her later in the day, the poor thing was unresponsive and frozen solid. Though she was scarily close to death, her family was not about to give up on her. So right after they found her, they bundled her up and headed straight to the Animal Clinic of Kalispell. Maybe it was their quick-thinking or maybe, it was the expertise of the clinic officials, or maybe it was just one of the nine lives coming into play, but at the end of this ordeal, Fluffy lived to tell the tale.

Fluffy's owners, according to The Dodo are quite awesome. In fact, Andrea Dutter, executive director of the clinic, also had the same to say. "They've always been great pet owners so they didn't hesitate to bring her straight here," she told The Dodo. Once the cat was in the clinic, it was time for the officials to get to work. Considering that Fluffy wasn't in a great state, to begin with, they had to hurry to make sure that she survived. The first thing to do then was to warm the cat up a bit. She had spent far too long in the snow already.

Even though she did have a heartbeat when she reached the clinic, her body temperature was dangerously low. In fact, the poor cat was so cold that the clinic's thermometers were having a tough time recording her temperature. It was only after they tended to her for a good hour, trying their best to raise her temperature that she finally started responding. "It was all hands on deck. We had both doctors here working to thaw the snow and ice off her with warm water, and they were also blow-drying her and rotating in warm towels from the dryer," the executive director explained.

Once Fluffy was warm enough, it was time to take a look at her injuries. Though medical investigations did not reveal what exactly had happened to Fluffy to hamper her movements to such a great extent, clinic officials suspect that she was possibly attacked by another animal. Though she has a few scars, turns out they are nothing to worry about either. According to Dutter, they will heal soon enough and Fluffy will be able to make a full recovery in no time. "She was with us here for a few hours and then spent the night at an emergency animal hospital to be monitored. By the next morning, she was already doing well and walking," Dutter added.

"Amazing success and survival story from this week. Some clients found their injured cat buried in snow. They brought her to us essentially frozen and unresponsive. Her temperature was very low but after many hours she recovered and is now completely normal. Fluffy is amazing!" they posted on social media, keen to share Fluffy's tale of miraculous recovery with the world. Thank fluffy that her owners found her when they did. Had they been late, no one is sure what might have gone wrong with this adorable little feline.

Now while a lot of cats are allowed to spend some time on their own in the great outdoors, Fluffy's near-death experience has made her family decide otherwise. From now on, the cat is apparently going to give up a lot of her time outdoors. Sure she's going to have a tough time getting used to her boring life inside the house, but her owners say that there's no reason for her to believe that she will never be allowed out. As the days get warmer, they will make sure that Fluffy has her fair share of fun and frolic in the yard. Supervised of course.

In case you are curious to know more about Fluffy, let us tell you, her story is surely a strange one. While most expect Fluffy to have been a tiny kitten, growing up with the family, the reality is rather different. You see, the cat was already there to welcome the family when they first moved in. Over the days, she decided that the family was nice enough and accepted them as her owners. Though she was never forbidden from entering the house, this little icy scare made sure that her place was secure in the warmest corner from now on.

"Her owners are new to the area and when they first bought their house, Fluffy was an outdoor cat already living there in the backyard," executive director Dutter said. "She was established out there at that point, but after they started taking care of her she began living half indoors." Now that Fluffy is on her way to recovery, she's having quite the time lazing around in the blankets, basking in their warmth. Considering the scare the poor thing got, it doesn't seem likely that she will attempt to venture out in the snow any time soon.
