"My best four-legged friend reminded me of something so important: generosity," said Lana's mom.
Lana was only eight-months old in 2017, but even as a puppy, she knows the importance of being kind to others. According to The Dodo, Lana, who resides in Brazil, was rescued from the streets with her siblings late last year. Soon after, she was adopted by Suelen Schaumloeffel and her fiancé and settled into her new life where she was loved and cherished by her new family. But, despite all this love she was being showered with, she did not forget what it was like before she found herself a place she could call home. Since it's been colder than usual there, Schaumloeffel got Lana a thick blanket to make sure she stayed warm and cozy in her doghouse.
Lana's mom had no idea that the little one would give up on her own comfort to help the other dog. The weather has been rather chilly in their region recently, so this week Schaumloeffel bought a thicker blanket to ensure Lana stayed warm and cozy in her doghouse out front. Little did she know, however, after tucking Lana in for the night on Monday evening, that the puppy would soon forgo a little of her own comfort for the sake of a new friend. On Tuesday morning, when Schaumloeffel's fiancé stepped out to head to work, he discovered what a kind heart his new pupper baby had. He learned that Lana had dragged the blanket outside to share it with another dog who apparently lives on the streets.
Schaumloeffel revealed that she'd seen the stray before around their home, but when she tried to befriend it and look for an id, it ran away. But Lana had made his acquaintance, it seems, and decided to help him. "I thought, 'How beautiful what she did for her friend,'" Schaumloeffel tells The Dodo. "My best four-legged friend reminded me of something so important: generosity!" Since then, Schaumloeffel and her fiancé have seen the dog around more often, but it tends to run away whenever they get too close to the little one. They're now hoping that they can get close to the pup to make sure it's ok.
I mean, that's what Lana would do, too. "She is the nicest little dog I've ever met," Schaumloeffel says. "We forget sometimes the difference we can make in someone's life. She reminded me of this." While Lana is a sweet and understanding dog, we reported earlier about a doggo who faked a broken leg for attention and snacks. Footage shot in Bangkok, Thailand, shows a smart street dog nicknamed Gae by locals, who pretends to fake an injury in order to get sympathy and snacks from passersby. The video shows Gae dragging his feet along the ground as if severely injured. But the minute people come over to help him, he simply springs up and bounds away as if nothing happened. How cute is that?
