Her weight has nothing to do with her success, as the 15 Grammys and multiple world records from just three albums have proven.
Nearly five months after her last post on Instagram, Adele posted a recent picture of herself, thanking her fans for all their birthday wishes as the star turned 32 on May 5. While the gesture was sweet, her photo left everyone shook. After her separation from ex-husband Simon Konecki, with whom she shares her 7-year-old son Angelo, she is said to have made some drastic changes to her lifestyle. In the post that left everyone in awe, she thanked everyone for their wishes, adding that she hoped everyone was staying safe. She also extended her support to those on the front lines of the Coronavirus pandemic, according to PEOPLE.
She wrote: Thank you for the birthday love. I hope you’re all staying safe and sane during this crazy time. I’d like to thank all of our first responders and essential workers who are keeping us safe while risking their lives! You are truly our angels ♥️ 2020 okay bye thanks x1d. In the post, the singer looks nothing like we've seen before, as she showed off her cinched waist in a little black dress with flounced sleeves while posing behind a huge flower wreath. A day after posting it, her photo has nearly 8,390,000 likes and close to 1,87,000 comments. This is the first Instagram post since Adele first showed off her new figure in a photo from her Christmas party last year.
Many of her famous celebrity friends took notice. Chrissy Teigen commented, "I mean are you kidding me," while Kalen Allen noted, "THAT WAIST IS SNATCHEDDDDDD!!!!" and Lil Nas X joked, "Why you won 😍." "Happy birthday, Adele," wrote Rita Wilson. "Sending you so much love! Looking gorgeous!" Adele had been missing from the spotlight for a while; however, she was spotted officiating and performing at her friend's wedding where she showed us a glimpse of her makeover.
There, she told her fans to expect her new album in September. Adele's last album release was in 2015, where she gave us hits like "Hello" and “Send My Love (To Your New Lover).” The album was her third studio release and she bagged five Grammys in 2017, including album of the year. Earlier this year, Adele told her fan that she felt great after losing weight. “She said she lost something like 100 pounds, and that it’s such a crazy positive experience,” said the fan. “She seemed so happy, and she looked amazing. She seemed really confident," added fan Lexi Larson, a 19-year-old from Hingham, Massachusetts.
Another source told PEOPLE that the musician has been following a strict diet and fitness routine consisting of cross-training and full-body Pilates, but that it was not all about the physical change for Adele. "It’s easy to just focus on her physical transformation, but this is really about something bigger," the insider said. "She got to the point where she didn’t feel great. She knew she had to change something because she wants to be the healthiest mom possible. Her whole focus during the weight loss journey has really how been all about how she can be healthier and how can she treat her body better," the source added.
“It was never about losing weight. Her weight loss happened because she has cut down drinking and is eating more real food. But she now loves her physical transformation too. She is more confident, dresses differently and she just seems happier overall." Having said that, Adele has done so much with her career in an industry that is driven by the way people look and this surely is an achievement in itself. She proved to the world that size doesn't matter if you wanted to succeed; her 15 Grammys, her Oscar, and her world records are a much greater achievement than her weight-loss journey.

I see Adele’s weight loss is trending today and I just wanted to say that the fact that Adele has accomplished so much in her decade-and-a-half long career and yet NOW she’s being called “beautiful, powerful, an inspiration”...she was already all of those things & always has been pic.twitter.com/8FBQPCxBHO— kait🧚🏼♀️ (@kaitcoder) May 7, 2020
There’s no old Adele, there’s no new Adele, there’s just Adele!— Faizal Hamssin (@faizalhamssin) May 7, 2020
As long as she’s happy with her physical transformation, that’s all that matters.
Losing weight is an arduous journey, it’s not easy, but if it does make people feel good, we should support them. https://t.co/tME3kKVbrF
