The show's host Carson Daly first talked about Levine's departure on 'Today' after which his fellow coaches Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson shared heartfelt messages on Twitter on how they were going to miss him.
After 16 seasons at the hit NBC show, The Voice, beloved coach and hunk-in-chief at the show, Adam Levine has decided to move on, reports People. The news was announced by the show's host Carson Daly at Today on Friday. Most of the other coaches who Levine has worked with were stunned on hearing the news and shared their heartfelt messages on how he was going to be dearly missed. Country singer, Blake Shelton who has been on the show right from the time it began in 2011 and has been a constant along with Levine shared a message on Twitter of how the news has not yet sunk in yet. He also wrote on how hard a time he was having "wrapping my head around Adam not being at The Voice anymore". He also got nostalgic and talked about how the show had "changed both of our lives." The two have been frenemies throughout the show and shared chemistry that many say was one of the reasons that made it a hit.
And Shelton obviously had to make some remark that showed exactly the relationship between the two. Shelton added that he was going to "miss working with that idiot.” Over the years the show's coaches have been rotated from Christina Aguilera, and CeeLo Green when it began to the current lineup of Kelly Clarkson and John Legend.

Gwen Stefani, his girlfriend who he met through the show when she herself was a coach will be filling Levine's Red Chair. The show issued a statement on Friday where it stated, “Our friend and coach Adam Levine made the decision not to return next season. We’re going to miss Adam, but The Voice is family and with family, it’s ‘see you soon,’ never ‘goodbye,'” The Twitter handle of the show announced the new coach and stated, “Gwen Stefani returns with Kelly, John, and Blake on The Voice stage this fall. Join us in welcoming back Gwen, and sharing our heartfelt gratitude to Adam!”
Other coaches who have also made an been a part of the show are the likes of Pharell Williams, Alicia Keys, Miley Cyrus, Usher, Shakira, and Jennifer Hudson. Sharing a heartfelt message on her Twitter account Clarkson acknowledged the contribution made by Levine for the show and "To start an amazing show from the ground up" she wrote, "was a big deal!.” She also spoke about the hollow that he would leave behind in the show with his absence.

Clarkson added in her Tweet that "it will be weird showing up 4 work & he’s not there." In the 16 seasons that Levine was there, Levine won the show 3 times. He won the show in the season 1, with Javier Colon, another time in season 5 with Tessanne Chin and the last time season 9 with Jordan Smith. Soon after the news was out, Levine personally addressed his departure from the show with a touching Instagram post. He took his fans back to how he felt when he shot for the show on the first day.
"After the first day of shooting, I sat there, stunned. I said to myself there’s some magic here. Something is definitely happening...Thank you to every single coach I ever sat in those chairs with. That is a shared experience that is singularly ours. We have that for life. Thank you to everyone who supported this long strange and amazing left turn into a place I never thought I’d go.”
