The boy from Nevada bought his single mother a new car. He was inspired to do so by watching other kids on YouTube perform such acts of selflessness.
Being selfless is one of the best qualities anyone can possess. Doing something for others without expecting anything in return is a quality not a lot of people possess. One person who does is this teenage boy from Nevada who traded in his Xbox and cleaned yards to buy his mother a new car. William Rabillo, 13, recently surprised his mother, Krystal Preston, with a new 1999 White Chevrolet Metro with the money he made. As reported by Daily Mail, Preston is a single mother who is going through a rough time in her life and her son knew just how to make her feel better. William says that he was inspired by videos of other children on YouTube doing similar things to make. The boy found the car in an advertisement on Facebook and negotiated a deal. He managed to keep it all a secret from his mother until he finally surprised her.
In an interview with ABC 8, Krystal Preston said, "What 13-year-old buys their mom a car? I don't know any." Preston claims that she is still in shock of the generosity of her oldest son. "I can't even express it; there are no words that can express my gratitude and how proud I am." There aren't many children who would have done something like this. Kids do try and understand the situation their parents are in and most children wish to try and help in some way or the other, but buying a car and trading the Xbox? That's something unusual to see.
Preston has three children - Trista, Nathan, and William - and lives in Fernley, Nevada, with their three dogs. The family recently suffered a setback that left them living in the city without any means of transport. The setback has not been mentioned to the news outlet. Preston mentioned that she was struggling to make ends meet after the unspecified setback. "The last couple weeks have literally been hell filled with so many tears, anger, confusion and heart ache," Preston wrote on Facebook on March 23.
She posted on Facebook to announce her oldest son's grand gesture to the world while she was filled with joy and pride. "I have no words right now that can express how I am feeling at this moment," she wrote. "I'm in complete shock." For William, easing the burden on his mother's shoulders was his top priority and there weren't many ways in which he could help her. When he found one, he grabbed every opportunity he got to make it happen.
"'I saw on YouTube where people get their mom a car and then surprise her with it," said William. "I wanted to do that." The teenager explained that when he first found the advertisement for the car he was going to buy he contacted the owner. The owner seemed to be hesitant about selling the car to a child. "It was really cheap so I asked her if I could trade it or earn it, and at first she said no," said William. "After she thought about it, then she said yes."
Preston further described how her son, who she called 'a lawn mowing, yard cleaning, money-making machine', revealed to her exactly what he had been up to in the past few weeks through a social media post. She wrote: My son had a job today that he had to go do and so I allowed him to go assuming it was like any other time. Well this time was different. Very different. William came home and said 'Mom I bought you a car. At first, Preston laughed it off and didn't believe the boy at all.
William persisted her and she finally followed him outside and she found a woman waiting outside to hand the two of them the keys to their new car. The boy got in the car and so did Preston, who at this point was still under the impression that all of it was a joke. She realized that it wasn't a prank when they pulled up next to a house and the boy said, "Mom, that's your car." Preston wrote about how she completely lost it when she saw the car and could not believe what her son had managed to do.
Preston was handed the keys and the paperwork to the car. He then confessed to her about trading in his Xbox and doing yard work for the woman in order to buy the car from her. So we got into the car it started right up and off we went. I am so proud of my son. He is such a good kid. He may have his days but OMG what 13-year-old kid do you know that buys his mom a car...Preston ended the post saying: William I love you son and thank you. You have such a big heart and I love you...
