Trigger Warning: This story contains details of physical assault that may be disturbing to readers.

When it comes to neighbors, things could go either way. You might be blessed with the perfect kind or end up with a rowdy bunch who can easily make your life miserable. For 42-year-old Frank Penkava, it was the latter. According to PEOPLE, Penkava was frustrated with his neighbors playing loud music, so he decided to ask them to reduce the volume. But this decision turned out to be fatal as the neighbors allegedly attacked him so badly that he was beyond recognition. The terrifying incident, which ended up causing Penkava multiple facial fractures, took place in Hollywood, Florida, on June 14 around 2:30 a.m.

Despite being beaten beyond belief, the middle-aged man managed to call 911 for assistance as he was bleeding heavily. He told them that his next-door neighbors had assaulted him and when officers arrived at his home, he even pointed out his assailants. But arrests are yet to be made in connection with the incident. Penkava's devastated relatives told WTVJ that the 42-year-old needs life-saving surgery but his condition needs to stabilize before the operation can happen. Speaking about the deadly attack, the victim's family said they were only able to recognize him because of the tattoos on his body.

"It’s horrible. No mother ever wants to see their kid ever beaten up like that. I’ve never seen anybody beat up like that," said Penkava's mother Joan. "There is no reason for what they did to him. I understand that people get into altercations all the time and people’s emotions are high, especially over the last year, but there was nothing to warrant what they did to him," expressed his sister Gina Horvath. Doctors have tried to perform surgery five times but all the attempts have been unsuccessful because they haven't managed to get his condition to stabilize. Penkava is currently in a medically induced coma.

"I just want him back and I want him to be okay," said his heartbroken mother, who pointed that her grandson is waiting for his father to recover and come home. "My son has a little boy. He is going to be 4-years-old," she explained according to WPLG. "He is beautiful and he may never know his dad. We don't know what damage has been done mentally, let alone all of the physical issues he has. It's very disheartening." The family is left praying for Penkava's health and they are hoping that he doesn't lose an eye. The fact that Penkava has struggled with mental health also worried his loved one.

Despite the struggles, he has been a calm man who wouldn't even resort to physical violence as self-defense. "He went to work, did his job, and paid his bills. He didn’t bother anybody. So for anybody to do what they have done to him, I am seeking justice and I will not stop until I have justice for my brother," resolved Horvath. The family is left praying and seeking answers but all of it has been unfruitful so far. They have set up a GoFundMe page hoping that strangers would share the load of the mounting hospital bills. Some of the money will be used to pay the reward money for tips that lead to an arrest. It is a long road for Penkava, who has been in the hospital for 50 days based on the latest update, in terms of recovery.
